Schultze, Secretary enc. cc: Gary Flanner Olsen To: From: Re: Bennett Orlowski, Jr., Chairman Report No. 472 Southold Town Planning Board John W. Davis Date: August 16, 1985 Access Road for Minor Subdivision in Cutchogue. Map dated 11/9/84, prepared for Howard Rosenston. Comments: The map shows a 25 ft. R.O.W. for the first easterly length of 264 ft.± that would require some clearing throughout. The remaining northerly length is in a cleared area. The present owner, Mr. Klos, stopped by during this inspection and went over the alignment of the access road with me in the area that has to be cleared in part. There is an existing dirt road, that is not within the 25 ft. R.O.W. shown on the map, in the easterly course. The owner would like to change this section of the R.O.W. so that the existing road area could be used for the improved road with a minimum amount of clearing. Provided the map is not filed I see no reason why this could not be done. The existing ground is more or less topsoil. Test holes show 1 ft.± of that material. Recommendations: Do necessary clearing for a road width of 15 ft. 2. Remove topsoil to a depth of g inches and backfill with 8 inches of compacted sand and gravel bankrun (gravel content to be 20%). 3. The top surface to be covered with 2 inches of compacted 3/4" stone blend or crushed (recycled) concrete. The profile of the improved road will be flat. However, the first ]50 ft.± will drain to New Suffolk Road but I do not foresee any drainage problem there. Curve the road at the almost 90 degree angle in the R.O.W. to provide a better turning radius. Turning emergency vehicles will have to be done in driveways or other areas in the lots. W.
