Based upon my observations, it appears the roof structure of this element was constructed at the same time as the original house, (late 1940's) most likely as a screen porch. At a later date, (late 1960's+-) it appears a concrete block foundation was placed under the perimeter of this porch and the floor structure was replaced. It also appears that at the same time the exterior walls were enclosed with knee walls and windows, although the roof structure appears original. Based upon the above noted observations and subsequent assessments, it is my opinion that the ell, as it exists today, is in compliance with the New York State Building Code (NYCRR) that was in effect at the time the improvements were made.
