We are writi1ljg regarding the traffic situation along NYS Route 2S in the vicinity ofthe
Cross Sound F eny. The Town of Southold Board has adopted a resolution outlining their
conpems, a copy of which is enclosed for your information. .
The tourist season will be upon us shortly, and we anticipate that the vollUlle of traffic
will be increasing. The Town is requesting that signagebe placed along Route 25 prohibiting
. parking on both sides of the road. This should significantly reduce the risk of accidents at this
location. In addition, the Town request for II Park and Ride facility at Long Island Expressway
Exit 71 is II sensible idea. A shuttle bus service frOIn Exit 71 to the feny would provide.an
option which could geatly decrease automobile traffic at the ferry site and its environs.
We appreciate your kind consideratioIj of these requests, and hope that they can be
implemeoted in the near future. We look forward to hearing from you subsequent to your review
oftllis location.
Sincerely yours,
J~~~
