Justification: The purchase of snow removal equipment is necessary to maintain safety at the airport during periods of adverse weather conditions. This will allow the airport to remain open and reduce delays during these periods. The current snow removal equipment is old and in need of replacement. Consistency with ALP/FAA Standards This project is recommended in the Airport Master Plan and appears on the existing Airport Layout Plan. Consultation with U!.ers Fisher's Island Ferry District confirms that Operators at Elizabeth Field have been consulted and are aware of the proposed development project. Displaced Persons Statement The airport project proposed in this aid application does not involve the displacement or relocation of persons residing on land needed for such development. Specific Opposition Statement Fisher's Island Ferry District is not aware of any significant community opposition to the proposed project. . . PART IV: PROGRAM NARRATIVE Fisher's Island - Elizabeth Field December 1, 2005 Project Narrative Statement Airfield Lighting (Design) Description: This project generally consists of the removal and replacement of the existing airfield lights on the two runways. This will also include replacement of four existing PAPl's and REILS, lighted windcone, and all associated cables, conduits, regulators and other electrical equipment needed to operate such a system. The 13xisting airfield guidance signs will remain. Justification: The Runway lights, PAPI's, REILS and windcone and their components, cables and conduits are in poor condition. The existing circuits are D.E.B. and have failed in spots. The corrosive environment due to salt-spray has taken its toll on the electrical appurtenances. The rehabilitation of the existing system will provide a safer, more reliable system.
