Dear Sir:

Town of Southold

Signing Project
AGREEMENT
Under the Safer Roads Program before monies can be allocated for this
signing project within your Village a formal agreement between the
Town of Southold and the People of the State of New York must be executed
by both parites.
We are sending you an original agreement and six copies which indicates
the amount of money to be reimbursed to the Tov*n and the obligations
the Town has to the State. The reimbursable cost entered on page 2 of
the Agreement is the amount the Town can expect to receive for doing
the work. Under the Safer Roads this is the construction cost less the
10% local share as computed on the cost summary sheet and restated below
since the formal agreement never states that the locality has to pay 10%
matching share for a Safer Road Project.

This agreement must be signed by someone with authority, either the

and a resolution passed by the Board of Trustees authorizing the signing
of said agreement. A copy of such authorization must be attached to the
original and five copies of the agreemant and sent to the Regional Office
in Hauppauge, New York for further processing.
No construction w~ll be authorized until the Town submits to the State
a certificate of insurance in the amounts listed under paragraph 13 of the
Agreement.
After the project agreement has been signed and returned, we will send it
to our Main Office in Albany for Federal and State approval then to our
Budget Division. It generally takes eight to ten weeks or more before
authorization to start construction is granted.
We wish to express our sincere thanks for the assistance and cooperation
you rendered in the development of this project, and we look forward to its
completion.
If you should have any questions, please contact the undersigned at (516)
