Dear Mr. Pell:
JUN - 8 1981
TOWN OF $OUTHOLD
It is rather annoying to pull into the parking area
across from the Southold Post Office to make a quick
stop and find that the lot is full and the main road
must be reentered to find a place to stop at s more
distant location. It is further frustrating to notice
many vehicles parked there for a full day while the
owners are at work at locations in the immediate
vicinity. ~
A simple solution would be to place "Two Hour Parking"
signs within that particular lot which is very con-
venient to the Post Office in particular. I have made
this specific request of our previous supervisor Mr.
Albert Martocchia. His response was that we should
wait a shile because the Post Office will be at a new
location soon and that he does not have the manpower
to enforce the two hour signs. Well, sir, the Post
Office is still at the same location and we do have
two hour parking signs all along the main street in
the village. The present signs may not be enforced,
but Just the sign alone keeps people from parking
for extended periods. Perhaps this would work in
the parking lot.
I am requesting that you take this suggestion under
consideration to aleviate a sometimes hazardous and
annoying situation.
Very truly yours
Frank A. Lekich
