(a) 30 MPH within the Nassau. Point area, the boundaries of which are described in
paragraph (1).

Area description: Beginning at the intersection of the northerly right-of-way of
Lupen Drive extended and the westerly shore line of Little Creek to the intersecti
of the westerly shore line of Hog Neck Bay; thence southerly along the westerly
line of Hog Neck Bay to Nassau Point on Little Peconic Bay; thence northeasterl~
from Nassau Point on Little Neck Bay along the easterly shore line of Cutchogue
Harbor to the intersection of the easterly line of Mud Creek; thence northerly
along the easterly shore line of Mud Creek to the northerly right-of-way line of
Lupen Drive extended; thence easterly along the northern right-of-way line of Lupe
Drive to the point of ~eginning.
The above order will be effective upon the installation, modification or removal of the nece~ary traffic control device (s) required by and
conforming to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Under dste of Sept. 29, 1964 the Deoartment of Transnort~tion issued
an order establishing a 30 MPH area soeed limit in the Nassau Point area.
To date we have not received a notification of the completion of the
s~gn posting for this regulation. It is pertinent to note that the sneed
restriction is not legally effective until ~rc~er~y hosted.

The State Traffic Co~isaion has filed an order with the Secretary of State, as section
12h?.37 , subdivision ( a ), ~"~I~I~XXX~ of its regulations, and dated SEP 2 g 1984
for the fello~ing regalation:
Description of Action
Establishes a 30 MPH area speed limit be~een June 1 and November 1
of each year within the Nassau Point area, the boundaries of which are
described in paragraph (1) as presently published in the Secretary of State
publication.
It is pertinent to ~ention that effective October 1, 1964 the State-wide
speed limit of 50 MPH w~ll be applicable within these areas until such
ti~e as the new speed limit is, properly sign posted.

The Town of Southold is,to install, operate and maintain, or remove,
traffic-control devices in confore~ce with the ~anual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices
of the State Traffic C~ieaion to complete this action. It is essential t~at this office
be promptly advised of the date of completion. Copies of a completion notice have been
enclosed for this purpose. One copy should be properly executed, showing date of comple-.
tion, and returned to this office.

Gentlemen:
Chapter 844 of the Laws of 1964 amends Section 1622.3 of the
Vehicle and Traffic Law by setting 30 MPH as the mt~imum speed limit
for area speed limits. This new law becomes effective October 1, 1964.

established by the Traffic Commission will be changed to 30 MPH on
that date:
This will necessitate a change by the to~n in the signs posting
this area. We are advisiug you in advance so that there will be
ample time to properly take care of the sign changes. Existing signs
which are in good condition or are in stock may be used by placing a
panel with the numerals 30 over the existing 25. If it is necessary
to purchase new signs, we call your attention to the new standards
for posting area speed limits in Sections 208.7 thru 208.9 (pages
36 thru 42) in the 196~ Manual e~ Uniform Traffic Control Devices, a
copy of which has just recently been forwarded to your Town Superin-
tendent of Highways.
You will be further advised when the orders are issued estab-
lishing the new area speed limits.
