Gentlemen:
This letter further refers to the joint request from the Town Board and
the Suffolk County Commissioner of Public Works for a lower speed restriction
within the Eastern Shores Development area in the Town of Southold, Suffolk
County. Our field study has been completed and the reports have been received
and evaluated.
Based on our findings determined by the investigation we are of the
opinion that a 30 MPH speed li~it within the above mentioned area is warranted.
However, before we may proceed to establish the necessary regulations we
suggest you review the enclosed area description, complete the form and obtain
the endorsement of the S~ffolk County Co~ssioner of Public Works.
After we have received the completed form the necessary orders to
es~b~,~'.,sh the 30 MPH area speed l~mit will be issued.

WHEREAS, the speed limit in the Eastern Shores Development area
was requested a short time ago by the Town Board and sent to
the Department of Transportation, and
WHEREAS, the Department has made a fie~d study and found that a
30 MPH speed limit ~s warranted,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he
hereby is authorized to request the Suffolk County Commissioner
of Public Works and the State Department of Transportation to estab-
lish a speed of 30 MPH within the eastern Shores Development, the
boundaries of which are described as follows:
