(c) 30 MPH within the Eastern Shores and North Greenport area, the boundaries of which are
described in paragraph (1), exclusive of the town and country highways listed in paragraph (
(1) Area description: Beginning at the intersection of the northerly right-of-way line of
C.R. 48 and the easterly right-of-way line of Greenport Park; thence northerly along the
easterly right-of-way line of the Greenport Park to the southerly shore line of Long Island
Sound; thence easterly along the southerly shore line of Long Island Sound to the easterly
right-of-way line of Sound Road; thence southerly along the easterly right-of-way line of
Sound Road extended to the southerly right-of-way line of C.R. 48; thence easterly along the
southerly right-of-way line of C.R. 48 to the westerly right-of-way line of Manhasset Avenue
thence southerly along the westerly right-of-way line of Marduasset Avenue to the Greenport
Village line extended; thence westerly and northerly along the Greenport Village line extend
to the northerly right-of-way line of C.R. 48; thence westerly along the northern right-of-w
of C.R. 48 to the point of beginning. (2) The following town and county highways are exclud
from the above 30 ~PH area speed limit. (i) C.R. 48, a county highway, between'Moore Lane
and Sound Road. (ii) Main Street, a town highway, between the Greenport Village line and
State Route 25.
The above order will be effective upon the installation, modification or removal of the necessary traffic control device (s) required by and
conforming to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

along the westerl~ right-of-way line of Hobart Avenue extended southerly to'its
intersection with the northwesterly shoreline of Southold bay; thence ganerally
northeasterly along the northwesterly shorelines of Southold Bay and Pipes Cove
to its intersection with the westerly Greenport Village line; thence northerly
along the westerly Greenport Village line to its intersection with the southerly
right-of-way line of Route 25; thence generally westerly along the southerly
right-of-way line of Route 25 to the point of beginning.

The Town Board of the Town of Southold , by a resolution adopted

of Suffbl~ , hereby request the Department of Transportation, pursuant
to Section 1622.2 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, to establish an area speed
restriction within the Eastern Shores Development area, the boundaries
of which are described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the northerly right-of-wayline of North
Road, CR 27, with the westerly right-of-way line of Moores Lane North~ thence
northerly along the westerly right-of-way line of Moores Lane North to its
intersection with the southerly right-of-way line of Homestead Way; thence
westerly along the southerly right-of-way line of Homestead Way to its intersection
with the westerly right-of-way line of Westwood Lane extended southerly; thence
northerly along the westerly right-of-way line of Westwood Laue extended southerly
and Westwood Lane to its intersection with the southerly right-of-way line of
Sound Drive; thence westerly along the southerly right-of-way line of Sound Drive
to its westerly terminus$ thence northerly on a straight line to its intersection

Gentlemen:
This letter further refers to the joint request from the Town Board and
the Suffolk County Co~missioner of Public Works for a lower speed ~estriction
within the Eastern Shores Development area in the Tow~ of Southold, Suffolk
County. Our field study has been completed and the reports have been received
and evaluated.
Based on our findings determined by the investigation we are of the
opinion that a 30 MPH speed limit within the above mentioned area is warranted.
However, before we may proceed to establish the necessary regulations we
suggest you review the enclosed area description, complete the form and obtain
the endorsement of the Suffolk County Co~,~ssioner of Public Works.
After we have received the completed form the necessary orders to
e~bl~-sh the 30 MPH area speed 15~ri.t ',,rill be issued.

WHEREAS, the speed limit in the Eastern Shores Development area
was requested a short time ago by the Town Board and sent to
the Department of Transportation, and
WHEREAS, the Department has made a field study and found that a
30 MPH speed limit ~B warranted,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he
hereby is authorized to request the Suffolk County Commissioner
of Public Works and the State Department of Transportation to estab-
lish a speed of 30 MPH within the eastern Shores Development, the
boundaries of which are described as follows:
