Chief Engineer Suffolk County Department of Public Works 335 Yaphank Avenue Yaphank, New York 11980 Dear Mr. LaValle: Speed Limit Evaluation CR 48 (Tucker's Lane to Hotton's Lane '$0uthold Your Case No. 989620 We have completed our investigation of the referenced location to determine if a reduction in speed limit would improve safety and traffic operations. Our investigation included radar speed data and evaluation of roadside development along the highway. Our radar speed data showed the 85th percentile speed on this section of roadway is 56 mph. Therefore, based on the 85th percentile speed and current roadside development along CR 48, reducing the speed limit t¥om the current 50 mph would not be appropriate at this time.
