HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-01/12/2006 Minutes of the organizational meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on January 12, 2006, in the office oftbe building on Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York, with all Commissioners present (Jerome Zuhoski, Tom McCaffery and Gerard Goehringer), together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Gall Faireloth, Clerk, Edward Grohoski, Maintenance and Tanya Negron, Project Manager of Highlander Consultants, Inc., Mike Ryan, Volley Ball RECEIVED Manager and Abigail Wickham, Attorney for the Park District.. The meeting was called to order by Jerome Zuhoski at 7:03 p.m. MAR 1 4 3]O6 The first order of business was to select a Chairman for the Board of Commissioners for the year 2006. Southola Town Clerk On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Gerard Goelmnger and carded, Tom McCaffery was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the 2006 year. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jermone Zuhoski, and carried, North Fork Bank and MBIA/CLASS were appointed banking institutions for the year 2006. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski, and carried, the law firm of Wickham, Bressler, Gordon and Geasa was appointed legal counsel for the Board of Commissioners for the 2006 year. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski, and earned, Suffolk Times newspaper was appointed legal publication of the Board of Commissioners for the 2006 year. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski, and carried, Madeline Haas was appointed Secretary of the Board of Commissioners for the year 2006 On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and carded, the minutes of the December 8, 2005 meeting were approved as presented. Ms. Tanya Negron, Project Manager of Highlander Consultants, Inc of 99 West Main Street, East Islip, New York 11730, was introduced to the Board. She stated she had sent a letter about the construction of a tower for communication. She discussed the height of the tower, the number of users, the costs and what income comes to the Park District. She also said Highlander gets and pays for all permissions needed for the tower. Highlander has organizations who rent spaces on the tower. The tower has a 30 year life expectency. She presented copies of the tax map for all properties oftbe Park District for use of the Commissioners to decide on a site for the tower. Ms. Negron is going to work up papers in full so that it can be understood more clearly. She thanked the Commissioners for their time and interest and left the meeting The Commissioners and Abigail Wickham had a discussion on what mm would be paid by Highlander to the Park District. Gall Wickham mentioned $1000.00 per month. The lease of the Park to Highlander is basically an Option Agreement for a two year period and it can be extended for four years.. Mike Ryan, Manager of the summer volley ball league spoke to the Commissioners to let the Commissioners know everything is pretty much set for the league for the summer. He stated that the AVP dates have not been finalized He asked if the league could store some things in the old concession building. Commissioners gave permission. Mike Ryan also left a letter from North Fork Beach Volleyball Inc. containinga request for a special use permit for the use of beach volleyball at Breakwater Beach in 2006. The letter contain requested dates of use and other provisions. The letter is on file with the Secretary. Abigail Wichum is drawing up resolution for the appropriation of $58,000.00 from the taxpayers for completion of the new building at the Veterans Memorial site on Peconic Bay Boulevard. Edward Grohoski said the Yacht Club building is going to fall down. Edward Grohoski said it would take approximately 93 feet to put down a walk at Love Lane site from bathhouse to docks. He asked about Trex. Tabled for research of other material for the walkway. Commissioners asked Edward Grohoski to put up some lattice work at the entrance to Love Lane Dock so as to make it an attractive spot. t Edward Grohoski to purchase light fixtures for the bathrooms at the new building at Veterans Park site. Edward Grohoski said the stove at the Lodge has to be cleaned. Ed to get in touch with John Cushman to get the name of the person who cleaned it before. Edward Grohoski said he is fixing the bathrooms at the Lodge. On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Tom McCaffery and carried, a natural gas heater for the Aldrich Lane Building is to be purchased from Modine. On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Tom McCaffery and carried, Edward Grohoski to purchase a Saws All from Home Depot. Commissioners want the Porta Potty from the Yacht Club site. They will put it back the first of May, 2005. The dumpster for the cleanup work at the Veterans Park site was discussed. Commissioners will pay for 1/: the cost and the builder pay the other half. Abigail Wickham to write a letter to person who did damage to the district property.
