The original inventory was done in the mid-1980s by the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA). Since it was completed in 1986, no further work has been done on it. The inventory originally contained approximately 1200 listings. Over the years some of these properties have been altered or demolished. The Commission is now undertaking the project of updating this list and creating a computer file including all relevant information with respect to these properties for easy review by town officials and property owners. We have enclosed for your review the original SPLIA description of your property. If you feel it does not! accurately describe your property at this point we would appreciate it if you would please inform us so that wo may update the listing correctly.
