Box 962 Cutchogue, NY 11935 RECEIVED MAY 0 1997 Dear Mr. Bunchuck: In reference to your letter dated May 15, 1997, I have initiated the following steps: 1-Both the tub grinder tank and the 1000 skid tank will be filled (topped off) every 7 days regardless of amount in tank 2-Both tanks will be monitored in accordance with bid specification 3-I have instructed dispatch to pay special attention to the tub grinder tank and to assure me that this tank does not run out. Please be assured of my personal attention to all details. Box 962 Cutchogue, New York 11935 Tel: (516) 734-7685 F~x: (516) 734-7976 May 15, 1997 Mr. Ivan Kovac All-American Fuel 287 Bowman Ave. Purchase, NY 10577-2540 SOUTHOLD TOWN SOLID WASTE DISTRICT D'~ar Mr. Kovac: I am writing concerning the performance of All-American with regard to delivering diesel fuel to the Southold Town Disposal Area. Specifications for diesel fuel delivery require the vendor to deliver fuel "as and when required." The Specifications also require the vendor to "check tanks tw/ce weekly and fill as necessary." Among the tanks required to be f'flled is a 300 gallon capacity tank on our tub grinder. This machine is not portable on a regular basis and needs to be filled separately from our 1,000-gallon skid tank. On several occasions the tub grinder has run out of fuel and had to be shut down until the next delivery. We regularly must call for all of our fuel. In calling your office about these matters, you have told us that AB-American is not reqtfn'ed to fill the tub grinder and does so only at the discretion of the delivery track driver, ha addition, you have said that scheduling fuel del/veries to the disposal area is only done if the skid tank requires at least 700 gallons of fuel. The Specifications do not grant the vendor these perogotives, and servicing the Disposal Area on that basis is unacceptable. On Fhday, May 9, this resulted ia downtime for the tub grinder as we waited for a delivery of fuel that was requested mid-day on Thursday the 8th, and which All American scheduled at ifs convenience for del/very late in the afternoon of the 9th. Please be advised that satisfactory performance under your contract requires that you provide the Disposal Area with enough fuel as determined by this department. Your cooperation is expected. Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss this matter further, Sincerely, Bunchuck CC: Supervisor Cochran Lau y Oow . Town ^ttom y Judy Terry, Town Clerk Accounting JUDITH T.
