MEMORANDUM
TO: Town Board Members
FROM: ~L~m Bunchuck
SUBJECT: Year 2000 Bid for Scrap Tire Removal
On December 2, the Town received a bid of $1,700 per truck load/$165 per ton from JBH
Tire Recycling, Inc. of Yaphank for removal of scrap fires from the landfill for 2000.
This represents a 65% increase over the 1999 bid price (also from JBH). The JBH bid
was the only one received.
I previously asked the Board to postpone awarding the bid in order to seek price quotes
from other qualified bidders. I have located a company who is willing to do the work at
substantially less cost.
I therefore request the Board to adopt a resolution rejecting the JBH bid and to re-bid for
the scrap tire removal service.
