FISHERS ISLAND
The annual~ Fishers Island meeting of the Southold TOWn Boar'S'
held on Tuesday, August 24, 1965. The meeting was ~eld in the-/au~u
itorium of the Fishers Island High School and was called to order
by-Su~'ervls~r Lester M. ~Alhertson at ~1:30 ~P.M..~ with the' 'follOwing
present: S~perviSor~'Albertson; CounCilmen Demarest and~Vale~ne;'
Justices:Clark, T~thill and Edwards; Supt: of
Town Attorney Tasker; T~wn Clerk Richmond; Officials the
Comnty a~d TOwn, and guests and residents of Fishers Island.
Smpervisor Albertson introduced all the State, county and Town
-officials and th~' ~uests who attended the' meeting. '
Bond No. 56-77-234 of $12,~88.80 was received ~from H.J,S. and J%M.S.
Land and Development Corporation for completion of roads, install-
ation of water '-mains and improvements in the S~bdivision "EASTERN

Pd~SOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of the last meeting
held on Augmst 17, 1965; be' ~ispenSed with at this meeting.

WHEREAS, Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official
report and reco~endation upon the petition of A. John Gada for a
Change of zone from "A"' Residential ~d Agricultural ~Dist~ict
to "M-i" Multiple P. esidence District on certain property on
Fishers Island, New York,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a pmblic hearing will be held
by the Southold Town Board at the Fishers Island Fire House,
Island, New York, on Friday, September 17, 1965 at 2:~0PP.~4. on
the above mentioned ipet'iti°n and that the T~wn clerk be and he
hereb~ is-authorized and:'~irected to cause a notice of Sa~d:.~earing
to be published-'in the" SUffolk Times pursuant-to the requirements
~f law. '

WHE~RAS, this Board deems it in the best interest of the Town of
Southold that an Ordinance entitled'"An Ordinance Regulating the
Taking and the Manner of Taking Shellfish in the T~wn of Southold~
be adopted~ and ~ ' ~ -"
WHEREAS, an error was-made in the advertisement of said Ordinance
by not stating the place where the hearing will be held,
NOW', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED= That a public hearing will be held
by the Tow~ BOard ofthe Town of Southold at the Supervisor's Office,
16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on the 17th day of September,
1965, at 7~38 o'clock P.M. on the matter of the enactment of the
follOWing ordinance, to wit:- (See Page 132 - copy of said ordinance.)

RESOLVED: That the Smpervisor, Lester M. Albertson, be and he here-
by is amthorized to communicate with the State Traffic C~mmission
and request a 38 mile per hour spee~ limit o~ all town roads on
Fishers Island, New ~rk.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.

RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be end,he hereby is directed to request
the Long Island ,Lighting Company to remove one (1) light on pole
No. 3J NYTCO which was requested 'Feb. 8, 1965 and place a 100 cp
street 'light on NYTCO pole % 31 on. Cox's Lane, Cutchoque, New York,
in the Cutchogue Light District.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Supervisor Albertson asked~ if anyone wished to discuss anything
wit~ the Town Board. The'following subjects were 'discussed:

~Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS, Mattituck Estates, Inc. has filed ~with the Planning Board
a subdivision[covering property at Mattituck, New York, an~
WHEREAS, the Planning Board, as~acondition to the approval of said
plot, has required that the streets on said' plot shall be improved
an~ surfaced in accordance with the specifications cf the Town' of
Southold, and has also requ~ed that the developers of said plot
c~struct a ~am and/or dike on premises adjacent to said subd'ivision/
and used for surface drainage, and
WHEREAS, the Town has estimated that the cost of said ~mprovement~
will be kapproximately $30,000.00, and-in lie= of making such-improve-
mentS,~ has required apperformance bond in the amount of $35,0~0.00,
WHEREAS~ the developer, in lieu of filing said performance bond, 'has
agreed to deposit with the Town cash in the amount-of $35,0~.00 in
the form of a passbook from the North Fork Bank and Trust Company,
Mattituck, New 'fork, in this amount with a withdrawal slap' properly
executed by the owner of said account in favor of the Town of Southold,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the'Town accept said passbook
together with said withdrawal slip properly executed in favor' of
the Town of Southold, upon the condition that if said' developer fails
to. ma~e the improvements required by. the Planning Board'within three
(3) Years-from the date hereof, the 'TOWn shall have the ~ight to
enter'upon ~said premises and to com_mlete said improvements and tO
withdraw the funds .in said account, or so much thereof as may be
required for the payment of SUch improvements, and in the 'event that
said developer makes said improvements within said perio~ of time,
then the Town of Southold shall forthwith~ release said passbook and
w,~thdrawal Slip to the developer.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Adjournment was at 2:20 o'clock P.M.
At'the close of the meeting all were invited at the LegiOn Hall for
a-.light lunch and ~coffee which weresservedby the ladies of Fishers
Isl'and,~A--rising vote of t~anks was given to the ladies for their
kind hospitality.
