Dear Supervisor Cochran:
My wife and I are newly retired and have recently moved
back to Mattituck, my wife's home town. We have just
completed a major renovation to our home and have
successfully obtained our new Certificate of Occupancy.
From the project's beginning to its conclusion, we have
been impressed with the professionalism of all those
Southold Town officials with whom we have been involved.
The Town Trustees as well as the members of the Building
Department were always courteous and timely in providing us
with their expertise as well as all necessary information
and services.
Our renovation did not always proceed smoothly because of
opposition by one of our neighbors. Despite these
difficulties, Mr. Forrester and his staff were ready,
willing and able to address our concerns and to assure us
that Southold Town stood firmly behind the permit it had
issued.
We would therefore like to thank those in the Building
Department, especially Mr. Ed Forrester, Mr. Jamie Richter,
Mr. Gary Fish, and the secretaries for their hard work and
caring attitude towards two grateful homeowners.

Trustees at their Regular Meeting on August 25, 1999:
RESOLVED, that the $outhold Town Board of Trustees grant a
Waiver for an addition to the existing residence, a new screened
porch and a deck addition. Located: 1750 Lupto~ Point Road,
Mattituck.
However, this determination is not a determination from any
other agency.

Dear Trustees:
This is written to comment on the proposed expansion of the property adjacent
to our location. The following our in our opinion serious concern regarding
the value and quality of life.
a. The proposed plans indicate the need to further expand the already close
proximity of their patio, this would place this two story structure within
approximately twenty five feet off my deck.
b. The location of this will in our opinion invade our privacy of our living
quarters and outside deck activities. This addition, within a foot of our
property line, would allow people the have the opportunity to look directly
into our bedroom window, and also view our deck in total.
c. The proposed additions increase the density of the current footprint by
almost 3096 while more then adequate space exists on the other end of their
property to carry out this plan.
d. The addition to support a deck must I'm sure be built to hold such weight,
and now it's a screened in porch, next it will be totally enclosed.
e. The proposed location offers no buffer environmentally for noise, lights,
etc.
Basically, the concern is that the existing patio which is only a foot off my
line, is to be expanded further and a second floor added, which in our opinion
already adds to an overburdened, highly dense area of their property.
We appreciate your consideration of the points raised.

1999, the following recommendation was made:
Moved by Richard Smith, seconded by Scott Hilary, it was
RESOLVED to recommend to the Southold Town Board of Trustees APPROVAL of the
Waiver Request of MICHAE,L MITCHELL 115-11-18.1 to construct a house addition, a new
screened porch, and an addition to the existing deck.

referenced above. The existing deck structure, shown on the drawing, is located 53 feet
to the existing timber bulkhead. The proposed construction which includes an addition to
the existing residence, new screened porch and the addition to the existing deck are all
behind the existing deck str?~ithin 75 feet of the existing timber bulkhead; we
