PURCHASE OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT
The Town of Southold, in the County of Suffolk, a municipal corporation of the
State of New York, hereby acknowledges itself indebted and for value received
promises to pay to the bearer of this Note, or if it be registered, to the registered
holder, the sum of Thirty-one Thousand Two Hundred

the 3rd day of May , 198 8~; together with interest thereon from the
date hereof at the rate of Six and 25/100 ....................................
per centum ( 6.25~ per annum, payable at maturity. Both principal of and interest
on this Note will be paid in lawful money of the United States of America at
The North Fork Bank & Trust Co., Mattituck, New York.
At the request of the holder, the Town Clerk shall convert this Note into a
registered Note by resgistering in the name of the holder in the books of the Town
kept in the office of such Town Clerk and endorsing a certificate of such registration
hereon, after which both principal of and interest on this Note shall be payable only
to the registered holder, his legal representatives, successors or transferees. This
Note shall then be transferable only upon presentation to such Town Clerk with a
written transfer of title and such Town Clerk shall thereupon register this Note in
the name of the transferee in his books and shall endorse a certificate of such
registration hereon. Such transfer shall be dated, and signed by the registered
holder, or his legal representatives, and it shall be duly acknowledged or proved,
or in the alternative the signature thereto shall be certified as to its genuineness
by an officer of a bank or trust company located arid authorized to do business in
this State.
This Note is the only note of an authorized issue, the principal amount of which
is 31,200.00.
This note is issued pursuant to the provisions of the Local Finance Law,
constituting Chapter 33-a of the Consolidated Laws of the State of New York, the
bond resolution entitled:
"Bond Resolution of the Town of Southold, New York, adopted March 24, 1981,
authorizing (a) the purchase of one {1) street sweeper at the estimated maximum
cost of $53,000.00; and (b) one (1) backhoe and loader,at the estimated maximum
cost of $75,000.00; both items for use by the Highway Department, stating
the estimated total cost of said specific objects or purposes is $128,000.00,
appropriating said amount therefor, authorizing the application of $10,000.00
being the trade-in value of obsolete highway equipment and authorizing the
issuance of $118,000.00 serial bonds of the Town to finance the balance of said
appropriation and further authorizing any amounts received from the United
States of America and/or the State of New York to be expended towards the
cost of said specific object or purpose or redemption of said bonds issued therefor
or to be budgeted as an offset to the taxes for payment of the principal and
interest of said bonds."
The faith and credit of such Town of Southold are hereby irrevocably pledged
for the punctual payment of the principal of and interest on this Note according to
its terms.
It is hereby certified and recited that all conditions, acts and things required
by the Constitution and statutes of the State of New York to exist, to have happened
and to have been performed precedent to and in the issuance of this Note, exist,
have happened and have been performed, and that this Note, together with all other
indebtedness of such Town of Southold is within every debt and other limit prescribed
by the Constitution and the laws of such State.

Chapter 38-a of the Consolidated Laws of the State of New York, the bond resolution adopted
by the Tovzn Board on March 24, 1981, authorizing the issuance of $11'8,'000 serial bonds
for the purchase of various motor vehicles and equipment and the Certificate of Determination
executed by the Deputy Supervisor on May 7, 1981.
The faith and credit of such Town of Southold are hereby irrevocably pledged for
the punctual payment of the principal of and interest on this Note according to its terms.
It is hereby certified and recited that all conditions, acts and things required by the
Constitution and statutes of the State of New York to exist, to have happened and to have

Section 1. The Town of
Southold, in the County of Suf-
folk, New York ("Town"), is
hereby authorized to purchase
(a) one street sweeper at the
estimated maximum cost of
$53,000, and (b) one backhoe
and loader at the estimated
maximum cost of $75,000, both
items for use by the Highway
Department of the Town. The
estimated total cost of said
specific objects or purposes,
including preliminary costs
and costs incidental thereto
and the financing thereof is
$128,O00 and the said amount is
hereby appropriated therefor,
including the application of
$10,O00, being the trade-in
value of obsolete highway
equipment presently owned by
the Town, and hereby author-
ized to be applied towards the
payment of the equipment
authorized by this resolution.
The plgn of financing includes
the use of said $10,000 trade-in
allowance, the issuance of
$118,000 serial bonds to finance
the balance of said appropria-
tion and the levy of a tax upon
all the taxable real property in
the Town to pay the principal
of and interest on said bonds
as the same shall become due
and payable. It is also expect-
ed that grants of Federal
and/or State funds will be
received and any amounts so
received are hereby authoriz-
ed to be expended towards the
cost of said specific objects or
purposes or redemption of
said bonds or any bond antic-
ipation notes issued in antic-
ipation of the sale of said
bonds or to be budgeted as an
offset to the taxes for the
payment of the principal of
and interest on said bonds.
Section 2. Serial bonds of the
Town in the principal amount
of $115,000 are hereby author-
izod to be issued pursuant to
the provisions of the Local Fi-
nance Law, constituting Chap-
ter 33-a of the Consolidated
Laws of the State of New York
("Law"), to finance the bal-
ance of said appropriation.
Section 3. The following
additional matters are hereby
determined and stated:
(a) The period of probable
usefulness of the street
sweeper for which serial bonds
herein authorized to be issued
pursuant to Section l(a) here-
of, within the limitations of
Section 11.o0a.29 of the Law, is
five (5) years.
(b) The period of probable
usefulness of the backhoe and
loader for which serial bonds
herein authorized to he issued
pursuant to Section l(b) here-
of, within the limitations of
Section 11.o0a.28 of the Law, is
fifteen (15) years, but the
maturity of any bonds issued
under this resolution will not
exceed five (5) years.
(c) Current funds are not
required by the Law to be
provided prior to the issuance
of the bonds authorized by this
resolution or any bond antic-
ipation notes issued in antic-
ipation thereof pursuant to the
provisions of Section 107.o0d.4
and 5 of the Law.
Section 4. Each of the serial
bonds authorized by this reso-
lution and any bond anticipa-
tion notes issued in anticipa-
tion of the sale of said bonds,
shall contain the recital of
validity prescribed by Section
52.00 of the Law and said
bonds and any notes issued in
anticipation of said bonds,
shall be general obligations of
the Town, payable as to both
principal and interest by a
general tax upon all the tax-
able real property within the
Town without limitation of
rate or amount. The faith and
credit of the Town are hereby
irrevocably pledged to the
punctual payment of the
principal of and interest on
said bonds and provision shall"

the Law, the powers and
duties of the Town Board
relative to authorizing bond
anticipation notes and pre-
scribing the terms, form and
contents and as to the sale and
issuance of the bonds herein
authorized and of any bond
anticipation notes issued in
anticipation of said bonds, and
the renewals of said notes, are
hereby delegated to the Super-
visor, the chief fiscal officer of
the Town.
Section 6. The validity of the
bond authorized by this reso-
lution and of any notes issued
in anticipation of said bonds,
may be contested only if:
(al such obligations are au-
thorized for an object or
purpose for which the
Town is not authorized
to expend money, or
(b) the provisions of law
which should be com-
plied with at the date of
the publication of such
resolution are not sub-
stantially complied
with,
and an action, suit or proceed-
ing contesting such validity is
commenced within twenty
days after the date of such
publication, or
(c) such obligations are au-
thorized in violation of
the provisions of the con-
stitution.
Section 7. This resolution
shall take effect immediately.
