MEETING OF AUGUST 23, 1966
FISHERS ISLA~
'The annua% Fishers Island meeting of the Southold Town Board was held
on Tuesday, August 23, 1966. The meeting was held at the Fishers Island
School and was called-to order by Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at
1:30 P.M. With ~the following presen't: ~upervisor Albertson; Councilmen
Demarest and~Valentine; Justices Clark, Tuthill and Edwards;- Supt. of
Highways Dean; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. Also
present were officials of the State, County'and Town and guests.and
residents of Fishers Island.
Supervisor Albertson introduced all the State, County and Town officials
and the guests who attended the meeting.~
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded~by. Councilman Valentine;
RESOLVED: Tha~'th~e reading of~the miuntes of the last meeting held on
August 9, 1966~b~"dispensed with at this meeting.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes_ Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and' Valerh[ne; Justice~. Tutti,l, Clark and Edwards. ' '
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, Town of Southold,
be-and'he hereby-is authorized to attend State Building Officials
~onvention, Albany, ~ew York, Dn Oc~ober~ 6th a~d 7~th, ~1966, ~nd be it further
RESOLVED: That all ac~al and necessary e~penses to travel, meals 'and
lodgmng incurred w~ite attending said convention be'a legal charge
a~ainst the Town. ~
Vote of Town Board.: Ayes-Supervisor AlbertSon; Councilmeu Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Supervisor Atbertson asked if anyone-wished to discuss any'problems
on the Island~The Following subjects were'discussed:
1.~ Reckless driving'by th~ old'~Fort.
2. STOP and SPEED signs .....
3. One way Street by.Post Office.
4. County spraying for mosquitoes'near gardens-answered by'Mr.- Williams.
5. Lobster fishing in N.Y.S. waters - answered by-Perry Duryee.
6. Dredging plans --West Harbor. ~ -~
7. Hunting situation.
8, Papers along highway.
9. More p~%ice protection.
10. Control of garbage dumped in water.
Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Justice Clark;.
RESOLVED: That this meeting~be adjourned at 2:10 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albert~sOn; Councilmen Demarest and
Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
At the cloze.of the meeting all were invited to. the Legion-Hall for.a
light l~nch ~nd coffee which were served by the ladies of'Fishers Ist~nd.
