The meet- ing was called to order at 3:00'P.M. with the following present: Super- visor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. ~ Move~dbyJustice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That the minutes of June 23, ~966 be and they hereby are approved. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, Fishers Island Ferry District Commissioners have requested a pay increase for John Pickett, Clerk to the Fishers Island Ferry~Dis- trict from $1.75 to $2.25 per hour, NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board approves the-request of the Fishers Island Ferry District in the salary raise from $1.75 to $2~25 per hour for John Pickett, Clerk to the District. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS~ the Mattituck~ Presbyterian Church, Mattituck, N.Y. has request- ed permission to use Sound Ave% f~r recreation and activities on Satur- day, August 6, 1966 from 6:00 until 11:00 P.M., NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Sound Avenue, Mattituck, N.Y., betweenLo~e Lane and Westphalia Road be closed to the public'traffic on t~e hours and date stated above. - Vote of Town Board: Ayes-lSupervisor Albertson; Councilmen D~marest and' Valentin~;~Justices Tuthill and Clark~ Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS~ the County of Suffolk proposes to dredge certain areas of Little Creek'~ in the Town of Southold, which 'dredging will be. performed by County owned dredging equipment at a nominal~ cost to the T~wn of Southold, and ' WHEREAS, in order to accomplish said dredging, plans, specifications, agreements, and other documents~must be executed on behalf of'-~he Town of Southold, now, thergfore, be it RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town Of Southold, all necessary plans and specificat&nns, spoil area agreements, assurances to the County of Suffolk, license and/or dredging permi%.applications to Federal and State' Agencies and all other documents ~aat may be required to accomplish- said dredging work. vote of T~wn Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; RESOLVED: That this Town Board opposes the passage of the bill known as No. HR 11236, commonly known as the TENZER BILL, by the Congress of the United States, and its enactment~into law, said bill hkving been opposed by the County of Suffolk, a copy of-which is >as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 46021966, WITH RESPECT TO THE COUNTY OF SUFFOLK'S OPPOSITION TO THE PASSAGE OF A BILL KNOWN AS NO. HR 11236, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ~E~ZE~ BILL. WHEREAS, it has c6me to the attention of the Board of Supervisors cf the County of Suffolk that a bill has been introduced into the 80th Congress of the United States, First Session, being known as'Bill No. HR 11236, which said bill would provide for the protection, conservation and development of the natural coastal wetlands by proposing t0 establish a "Long Island Natural Wetlands-Recreation Ar~a", and WHEREAS, said bill, if-enacted,ihto law, would provide for the regulation of wetlands and waters by the federal government of the United States of America and thereby divest state, county and town governments of their historical and sovereign jurisdiction thereof, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Suffolk is opposed to the k~deralization of~ such~ ]url~adlct!on which would occur~b.y vi~rtue of the passage of such bill by the Congress, and WHEREAS] the Board of Supervisors of the County of Suffolk, consistent with its policies and historic heritage, and in the in~sA~of the res- idents and people of the County of Suffolk, determines that ~t is in the best interest of the people that the management, programming, devel- opmen_t, regulation ~nd jurisdiction of the natural coastal and internal wetlands and waterways be vested in local government, now therefore, be it RESOLVED: That the County of Suffolk, through_ the Board of Supervisors of the County of Suffolk, is here.by opposed to the passage of the bill known as No. HR 11236 by the Congress of the United States, and its enact- ment into law, and be it further RESOLVED:.~That'~he'Clerk of the Board of Supervisors be and hereby~ is authorized~ and directed to forward certifie~ copies ~f this resolutzon' ~ ' to the ~ongressional Committee at the capitol, Wa-~hington, D.C. in, support of the. Albertson, Supervisor, be and he hereby is authorized to contribute half of the total COSt up to but not to exceed the sum of $475.00 toward the cost of the dredging. Steiner has applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated June 7, 1966, NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of William A. Steiner to locate a single trailer on his property, John's Road, east side of Main Road, Mattituck, N.~. be and hereby is granted for a period of six (6) months. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconde~ by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, Martin Filla applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated July 7, 1966, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Martin Filla to locate a sing~ on his property at Oregon Road, Mattituck, N.Y. be and hereby is granted for a period of six (6) months. Dawson of New Suffolk, N.Y. be and he hereby is appointed, subject to the written approval of the District Superin- tendent of Schools, ~hroughout the Town except such schools as are otherwise provided for by Section'3213 of the Education Law, and be it further RESOLVED: That ~uch attendance officer shall be removable at the pleasure of the District Supt. of Schools, and be it further RESOLVED: That the compensation ~f such attendance officer be fixed at $1200.00 per year payable in regUlar monthly installments, he to pay his own expenses, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is instructed to notify Frank Dawson and the District Superintendent of Schools of the appoint- ment.
