Albertson, at Greenport, N.Y. on January 10, 1967 with,,the follow- ing present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilm~n Va~%i~e~ustices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker; SUpt. of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond. ~ Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice TuthilZ; RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board..will be held at the office of Supervisor Lester ~. Albertson at 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y~ on the 24th day~'of January, 1967, at 3:00~P~. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Valentine; Ju~tices~Tuthill-and Clark. ~ Moved by Justice-Tuthill; seconded by Justice-Clark; ~ RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be-authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder the following: One (1) New Mobile Twin Engine Sweeper Vote Of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Gouncilman Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That the Highway me be paid time and a half for overtime ,workedYduring an emergendy in the Town of Southold. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the TOwn Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Greenport Lighting ~m~a~ to install one (1) 100 c.p. overhead street light on Greenport Light Pole ~25 on Manhassett Avenue and Woods Lane, Greenport, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; Seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the annual report of Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, and the Police Department for 1966 be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albe~tson; Councilman Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $9,382.20; Fishers Island Bills in the amount of $21,,002.37~ Lighting District Bills in the amount of $5,176.08 am;d Highway Bills in the amount of $6,817.65 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilman Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Patrick Gorman appeared before the Board inquiring if the the Town had any rules or regulations regarding cars being parked on the high, rays overnight. The Supervisor informed him that the Town had no such rules at the present ti~e. Mr. Gorman then inquired why sand had been deposited by thD County dredge in certain areas along the beaches and not in others. Mr. Albertson explained that the County had to have permission from the upland owners in order to deposit sand and thereof~re, the sand was deposited where permission w~s granted. The Count of Suffolk stated that it would make two test wells in the area of Ackerly Pond Lane, Southold, and Alvah's Lane, Cutchogue. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Tu;thill; WI~EREAS, birth defects are the second greatest destroyer of life in the United States, and ~ ~ WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of~sqrviving birth defect victims including many in Suffolk County, are doomed to lifetimes of phys- ical and mental disability, and WHEREASt birth defects impose staggering emotional, social and fin- ancial stresses on the family and the community, and WHEREAS, under the auspices of the March of Dimes,~_sign%ficant pro- gress is being made to solve these problems, .and ~ WHEREAS, the March of Dimes is conducting a national education pro- gram aimed at prQtecting the health.of mothers-to-be and thei~. babies through prenatal care, and WHER~J%S, a network of March of Dimes-s~pported centers is~provid-~ ing improved treatment for birth defect patients, and WHEREAS, March ofDimes research grants are enabling scientists. to learn more about birth defects, and WHEREAS, residents of Southold Township can play an important role in the control and prevention of birth defects bY supporting~ the March of Dimes, NOW, THEREFORE, ~ L~ster M. Albertson, of Southold Township~do hereby proclaim January 1967 as March of Dimes Month, and call on all our Townspeople to contribute generously to fight birth defects, this frightful menace to the health of our children.
