Bay View, Southold, appeared before the Town Board in relation to the
private roads in this development. The Board informed them that the
developer of a piece o~ property must meet the qualifications for
highways set by the Town before the highways, will be taken over and
maintained by the Town. If Mr. Nidds meets these qualifications, the
Town will be very-willing to take over a~d maintain the roads.
Mr. Paul Stoutenburgh appeared before the Town Board and sug.gested
the Board appoint an Advi~ary Council in relation to wetlands and
open area in the Town of Southold. The Town Board will study the subject.

The Southotd To%rn Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M.
Albertson at Greenport, New York, _on Tuesday, April 23, 1968, wit~ the
following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Valentine;- Justices Clark and Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Superinten-
dent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond.

RESOLVED: That. the minutes of April 9, 1968,. b~ and they hereby are
approved.

on Depot Lane, Cutchogue, N.Y., and
2) That the speed limit in the Town .Beach Area, Route 27A, Southold,
New York, be changed from 30 MPH to 40 MPH.

lowest responsible bidder, one (1) new Hough Pay Loader, Model H-60-H,

WHEREAS, a petition was received from Helen Mokus and others, requesting
a change of zone of certain property.in Southold, N.Y. described in said
petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural Distr±ct to "B-2" Busin-
ess District,
~-NOW, THEP~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of
Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application to
the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C of
Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southoldo

WHEREAS, Lula Easter has applied to the Town Board for a single trailer
permit,
NOW, ~HEREFORE,~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Lula Easter to
locate a single trailer on her property on Linnet Street, Greenport,
N.Y. be and hereby is.denied.

RESOLVED: That the Town Board create the position of Lieutenant in the
Southold Police Department.

RESOLVED: That Harold Daniel Winters, Southold, .N.Y. be and he hereby
is appointed lieutenant of the Southold Town Police, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation be fixed at $9000.00 per year, payable
bi-weekly and that the appointment be effective as of April 27, 1968.

WHEREAS, several people have requested the Town Board to regulate the
speed of boats in Mudd, Eugene and Broadwaters Creeks, Cutchogue, N.Y.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That no person shall operate a boat in
the above mentioned creeks at a speed greater than five (5) miles per hour,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and direct-
ed to cause notice of such speed limit to be posted in appropriate
places in said creeks.

and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter;
RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is author-
ized to maintain the parking lot at Mattituck Legion, said lot and office
having been rented by the Town of Southold for use by the Justice of
the Town, Martin Suter.

and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark;
WHEREAS, Police Chief Carl Cataldo requests all police officers to attend
a school to be operated in the Town of Southold,
NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:~ That each policeman attend said school
and be paid for two hours per man per week at an hourly rate based on
his present pay.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That Detective Dreskoski~of the Southold'Town Police Department
be and he hereby is~authorized to attend St. LaWrence Police School,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That tuition and necessary equipment while attending said
school be a legal charge against the Towh up to-but net to exceed, the'-
sum of $85.00.

and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Surer;
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and~he hereby is auth-
orized to sign the necessary-papers with-County Sail and Wat~er Conser-
vation District, said agreement being filed in ~he office of the~SuPervisor.

A small group of people from East Marion appeared before the Board to~
oppose the removal of the steps leading to the beach~ at Rocky Point~
The steps had been removed by the Town due to ,constant~vandatism and..
great expense in trying to keep the steps in repair.
