At 3:00 P.M. Justice Henry A. Clark r~ecessed the meeting of the Southold
Town Board on March 26, 1968 to make it possible for the members o~ the
Town Board to attend the funeral~ services for Mrs-. ~Rober. t ~Cameron, Wife
of the Supervisor ~of the Town of Southampton. The meeting of. the Town
Board will reconvene on Mar~h 27,~.1968..at 3:00 P.M.

with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark~and ~Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Supelrin-
tendent of Highways Dean and Town CLerk Richmond.

RESOLVED: That the minutes 0f ~he ~meeting of-March 12, 1968, be~nd
they hereby are approved.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester Albertson be and he hereby is auth, orized
to purchase one police car; either under County Contract~or by bid, which-
ever is in the best interest of the Town.

RESOLVE~: That Carl Cataldo,~Smithtown,-'New York, beaand ~he is-appoin~
ed Chief of Police of the Town ~f Southold for a probationary period
of twenty-s~ weeks following the date the appointment becomes effective,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That Carl Cataldo serve in the capacity of Chief of Police
at the pleasure of the ToWn Board, unless otherwise prOvided by law, and
be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation be fixed at $9500.00 per year, payalble
bi-weekly and that his active duty start on April 13, 1968.

Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
WHEREAS~ Southold Planning Board has prepared an official report and
Recommendation upon the petition of Russell Tabor & Sons for a change
of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business
District and upon the To%rn Board's own motion for the following changes:
1) Silvermere area from "B-2" Bus~ness and "A" Agricultural ~"M"
Multiple Dwelling District,
2) East side of Kenney's Road, Southold, from "B" Business District to
"B-2" Business District and "M" Multiple Residence District, and
3) property on Youngs Avenue, Orient, from "B" Business District to
"M" Multiple Residence District and "A" Residential and Agriculural
District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by
the Southold Town Board at the Superv~sor's Office, 16 South Street,
Greenport, New York, on Tuesday, April 23, 1968, at 7:30 P.M. on the
above mentioned petitions and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby
is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearings to be
published in the Mattituck Watchman-L.I. Traveler, pursuant to the
requirements of law.

WHEREAS, W.. Edgar Worthington has applied to the Town Board for a slng~le
trailer renewal~permit dated~ March 22, 1968,
NOW, .THEREFORE,,. BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of W. ~d~ga~r
Worthington to locate a szngle trailer on his property at Sound Ave.,
Mattituck, N.Y. be and the same is granted for a slx (6) month period.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine;
RESOLVED.: That the S~perintendent of Highways of the Town of SOuthold
be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest
responsible bidder one (1) new point and pump for use at the Town
Disposal Area.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine;
WHEREAS, Burton Potter Post $185 American Legion, Greenport, New York,
applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License Amendment, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application and investigation
~u~y~ma~e ~i-ndings and determinations as required by law, ~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: ~That the Supervisor be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to execute On behalf of the Town Board the
findings and determinations required by law, and it is further
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to ~ssue
an amended Bingo License to the Burton Potter Post $185 American Legion
Greenport, N.Y.

Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by C~uncilman Valentine;
WHEREAS, Mr. Charles Abrahams of Mattituck, New York, contributed many
hours of his time toward the completion of h~use'numbering in the Town
of Southold,
~OW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That Mr. Abrahams be commended for the
interest he has shown and the many hours he has given without compen-
sation, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Town Board wishes to express it's sincere thanks
and appreciation to Mr. Abrahams.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark and Surer.
