.The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia,
Greenport, New York, on August 25, 19~0, at 3:00 P.M~ with the following
present:.Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices
Suter and Demarest; Town Attorney Tasker; Superintendent of'Highways Dean
and TOWn Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Justice Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Special meeting of August 4, 1970 and
the regular meeting at Fishers Island, New York, on August 13, 1970 be
and they hereby are approved.
Vote 95 Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and
Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the
office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia at 16 South Street, Greenport,
N~w York, on T~esday, September 8, 1970, at 3:00 P.M.

RESOLVED: That the reports of the Fishers Island Ferry District and
Police Department for the month of July 1970 be accepted by the Town
Board.and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That Chester Melot, Mattituck, New York, be and he hereby is
appointed Attendance Officer, subject to the written approval of the
District ~uperintendent of Schools, throughout the Town, except such
schools as are otherwise provided for by ~s~ion 3213 of the Education
Law, and be it further
RESOLVED: That such Attendance Officer shall be removable at the pleasure
of the District Superintendent of Schools, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation of such Attendance Officer be liked at
$12~0.00 pe~ year, payable in regular monthly installments, he to pay his
own expenses, and be it further
RESOLVED~ That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is instructed to notify
CheSter Me~Ot and the District Superintendent of Schools of the appoint-
ment~~-

WHEREAS, Southold Fire Department requests permission to use the parking
lot under lease to the Town of Southold and situated adjacent to the Fire
House on th~ east on,September 5, 1970 and in case of rain, on the 7th
of September 1970,
NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Fire Department be
granted ~e use of said parking ~ot as requested, providing the insurance
~s sufficient to cover the Town and is approved by the Supervisor.

RESOLVED: That $300.00 be and hereby be transferred from Contingent Fund
to Narcotics Council Fund.

RESOLVED: That'Sylvia Rouse be and hereby is appointed Clerk Typist to
the Board of Assessors for a probationary period of six (6) months at a
salary-of $4,000.00 effective as of September 1, 1970.

RESOLVED: That Chief of~P01ice Carl Cataldo be and he hereby is aU~tko~ized
to have a phone calI box placed at Ball Park, Peconic Bay Boulevard,
Mattituck, ~'N.Y% the Mattituck Park District'having agreed to pay'the
yearly fee for said phone.

WHEREAS, Southcld Planning Board has prepared an officeial rep6rt and
recommendation upon the petitio~ of Abe Goldrick for a'change~of~zone
from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B"'Business~';Dis~ri6t
on certain property in Southold, Suffolk, New York,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by
the Southold Town Board at the office of the Supervisor, 16 South"Strest,
Greenport, New York, on September 22, 1970, at.7:30 P.M.-on the~abova~- -
mentioned petition and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is aut~6~zed
and directed to cause a notice of said hearing to be published in'~h~'Long
Island Travelr-Mattituck Watchman, pursuant to the requirements'-of';lhw

WHEREAS, a petition was received from Andrew Cassidy requesting"a ~hange

Residence District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of~
South~ld be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application tp the
P~anning Board in accordance with Section 901, SubdivisiOn C of;Artidi~~
IX mf the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold.

WHEREAS a Petition was received from Dri-Gen Realty Corportaion I~.,,
North Oakwood Road, Laurel, N.Y. requesting a change of zone of certain
property in Greenport, New York, described in said petition from
Residential and Agricultural District to "B-2" Bus~ness District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of South-
old be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application to the
Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C of Article
IX of the Buia~ing Zone Ordinance of the Town of Soutbold.

Spring Glen, New York, on October ll, 12, 13 and 14, 1970 and that all
necessary expenses be a charge agains~ the Town. :~

RESOLVED: That Chief of Police Carl Cataldo be and he hereby is requested
to ~ommunicate with the State Traffic Commission and request that a max-
imUm' speed limit of 15 MPH be established the full length of the'Southold
High ~SChoo~t propertyon Oaklawn Avenue, Southold, Suffolk County, New York.

station marker 25-0704-1625 east Of Southold Village, Route 25, Southold,
Suffolk County; New York.

traffic around Monument Corner west of Southotd village, Route 25 and
Tuckers Lane, Southold, Suffolk CouNty, New York.

traffic around the monument on Route 25 and Village Lane, Orient,
Suffolk C0u~ty, New York.

WHEREAS, The State Legislature has ~pproved a change in the limitations
of amounts to be raised for repair and purchase o~ ~ighw~y Machinery,
Item 3, and
WHERE~S, t~e Suffolk County Civil Service Commission has approved the
designation of "automotive mechanic" for four Highway employees,
presently employed' in the' r~pair and mai'ntenan'ce of machinery, whose
salaries may be chargeable to Item 3, Highway Machinery, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED: That the catefory of "personal services" be established
under ~he ~Item 3, Highway Machinery, and that the sum of $15~000 be
transferred:from category "'Purchase of Machinery, Item ~-~' into ~this new
category "PerSonal Services,- Item 3', Highway Machinery".

Mr. Waimey of New Suffolk, N.Y. presented a petition of names from res-
~idents of New Suffolk requesting the entire parking lo% at~ New Suffolk
Beach' be open to residents or taxp.ay~rs ONLY and the present barrier be
removed to include the parking area.
Mildred Chapman's resignation was received with regrets and placed on file,
the Town Board to act on same at the next board meeting.
