A request was made by Mr. Proom for financial assistance in dredgih~' the entrance to Wunneweta Pond. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to ~qq~st the Long Island Lighting Company to install the following lights: ' One 175 MVOH stree5 light on the corner of Route 27A and Peconic~ane~, on LILCO pole ~254 .... One 175 MVOH street light on NYTCO pole ~27, Oaklawn Ave., Southold, ~.Y. Also, as recommended by Mr. Kincaid, that 7-7600 lumen mercury vapor street lightsfixtures 'be installed and 5-1000 lumen street lights be removed, thus providing a mercury vapor light on Wickham Ave., at every intersection and on alternate pole in between, from Route 27A to Grand Avenue. ~ Vote of Town Board: A~es-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine' and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter; ~- RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at.the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport~Y. on Tuesday, March 10, 1970 at 3:00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Jus~ces Demarest and Suter. SevSral people appeared before the Board protesting the ramp to be in- stal~ed at ~orman E. Klipp Marine Park, stating that it would hamper a good swimming beach and create pollution and littering of~ the- beach- area. They also felt it 'would not be properly policed and requested ~hat an- other sight be chosen for the public ramp. Moved by Councilman Rich; seconded by Justice Demarest; ' ~ ~ RESOLVED-- That the Southold Town Board approves the action of the l~ishmrs Island Ferry District in advertising for bids and the purchase o~'~one 25-man life raft for the ferry owned and operated by the Fishers Island Ferry District. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-~upervisor Martocchia; Councilman Ri6h;~i'~St~ices Demarest and Suter. ~ 255 Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Rich; WHEREAS~ Wunneweta Pond Association, Nassau Point, applied to the Town Board for f±nancial assistance in dredging the entrance of Wunneweta Pond, NOWa THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is ~uthorized to contribute half of the total cost up to but not to exc~eed the sum of $475.00 toward the cost of dredging~the entrance to Wunneweta Pond. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices Demares%'and Suter. Justfc~Martin Suter will investigate the request for lights at Captain Kidd Esta%~s, Ma~tituck, New York. Moved bY Justice Surer; seconded by Justice Demarest; RESOLVED~ That Superintendent of Highways Dean be and he hereby is auth- orized to advertise for bids and award the contract for the repairs of a P~yloader at the Town Disposal Area. Move~ by JuStice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways Dean bev and he hereby is authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase 6ne 1970~car, one 1967 car to be taken in trade, all in accordance with the specifications supplied by the Superintendent of Highways.- Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to advertise for b'ids and to purchase one 1970 car, a 1966 car to be taken in trade, all in accordance with specifications supplied by Supervisor Martocchia. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich, Justices Demarest and -Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich; W~EREAS~ a written petition, dated November 26, 1968, was duly filed with this board requesting the ~mprovement of highways in this town known as Ed's Road, Victoria Drive, Liberty Lane, Colonial Road, Summit Road and Columbia Road, situate on Corey's Hill at Bay View, in said Town; WHEREASa said petition was duly signed by owners of real estate owning real estate to the extent of at least one-half of the entire frontage or bounds on both sides of that portion of such highways situate as aforesaid and also signed by resident owners owning not less than one- half of the frontage owned by residentsowners residing in or along the portion of such highways situate as aforesaid, and WI4EREAS, the said petition was duly acknowledged or proved as to each signer in the same manner as required of a deed to be recorde~, and W~EREAS at a meeting of the said town board duly called and held on the 6th day of November 1969, an order was duly ad~pted by it and entered in its minutes reciting the filing of such petition, the improvement pro- posed and the maximum amount proposed to be expended for the improvement as stated in such petition, to wit, the sum of $6,000.00, and specifying that the said board would meet to consider the petition and to hear all persons interested in th~ subject thereof concerning the same, at the Supervisor's office, 16 outh Street, Greenport, New York, 11944, in said Town of Southold, o~ the 9th day of December, 1969, at 7:30 P.M., and WHEREAS, the said order, duly certified by the town clerk, ~as duly published and posted as required by law, to wit, a duly certified copy thereof was published in the Suffolk Times the official paper of this town, on November 21, 1969, and certified copies of such order posted on November 21, 1969, conspicuously in five public places within the district, to wit, along the highways to be improved and on the bulletin board in the Town Clerk's office, Town of Southold, 256 WHEREAS, a hearing was duly held by this town board at the p!ac~ and on the ~date and time hereinbefore mentioned,, and at such place-and time, the said town board did duly consider the said petition and hgar all persons interested, NOW~ THEREFORE, after such hearing and upon the evidence given' thereat and pursuant to the provisions of Section 200 of the Town Law of the State of New York, it is hereby RESOLVED that this board does hereby determine that it is in the~public interest to make the improvement petitioned for, to wit, to repair, recontour and resurface where necessary the existing highways kn~o~n as Ed's Road, Victoria Drive, Liberty Lane, Colonial Road, Summi~ Road and Columbia Road; and it is further RESOLVED that the Supt. of Highways of this town shall examine the said highways and make a careful estimate of the expenses to bg incurred to accomplish the said highway improvements and shall present the same to this board as soon as reasonably possible. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter.
