Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenpor~, New York, at 3:00 P.M., TueSday, November 21, 1972, with the following present: Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia, Councilman James H. Rich, Jr., Councilman James F. Homan, Justice Martin Suter, Justice Louis M. Demarest, Town Attorney Robert W. Tasker, and Town Clerk Albert W. Richmond'. Absent: Justice E. Perry Edwards. ~ Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Councilman Rich, ~it was RESOLVED, that the minutes of November 9, 1972 be and they hereby are approved. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Sup~ervlsor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Sute~, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED~that the next meeting of the Southold Town Board will be held at 3:00 P.M., TueSday, December 5, 1972, at the-office of Supervisor Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suterf it was RESOLVED that Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to arrange for transportation and-lodging four all who wish to attend the Association of Towns in February 1973 at New York City. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that the probationary period of Joan Richter be and hereby is reduced from one year to six (6) months as required by the Civil Service Commission. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that Claude Kumjian, Orient, New York, be and hereby is appointed Radio Operator of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, for the required probationary period specified by the Civil Service Commission, and it is further RESOLVED that Claude Kumjian will serve in the capacity of Radio Operator at the pleasure of the Town Board unless otherwise provided by law, and it is further RESOLVED that the compensation during this probationary period be fixed at $5~500.00, payable semi-monthly deffective December 1, 1972. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED that Ellen DeMaria, Orient, New York, be and hereby is appointed a member of the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council effective November 21, 1972 to June 1, 1974, in place of A. Nelson Chap~ap who ~asi~ed. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor M~rtocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that Supervisor Martocchia is requested to write a letter ~ protest to the New York S~ate Department of Environmental Conservation relative to filling an area at Great Pond, Southold, New York. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Mattocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Hommn, ~ustice Suter, Justice Demarest. Mov-ed by Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, ' WHEREAS, our fried and fellow official, George Simpson, has be~n lost to us through death, and WHEREAS, by his passing the Town has lost an esteemed, and. efficient officer, and the people of Southold Town have been deprived of his wise counsel and judgment, and the Town Board h~as lbst a faithful friend and associate, ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board express its sense of loss and its sympathy to the family of George Simpson, and that a copy of this resolution be ent~Sd in our minutes and a copy be sent to his family. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Surer, J~stice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded'by Councilman Homan; ~t was RESOLVED ~that Supervisor Martocchia is requested to wr£te.~to the Departmentof the Army, New York District, ~Corps o~ Engiaeers, protesting the construction of a. rock, groin 50 feet offshore 'into Long Island Sound at the property of Chester M.
