SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD MINUTES
Meeting of February 10, 1972
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert M.
Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, at 3:00 P.M.,
Thursday, February 10, 1972, with the following present:
Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia, Councilman James H.
Rich, Jr., Councilman James F. Homan, Justice Martin
Suter, Justice Louis M. Demarest~ Town Attorney Robert
W. Tasker, Superintendent of Highways Raymond C. Dean,
and Town Clerk Alber% W. Richmond.
On motion of Justice Suter, sec[nded by J~stice Demarest, it was
RESOLVED: That the minutes of January 25, 1972 be and they. hereby
are approved.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held
at the Supervisor's Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York,
on February 22, 1972, at 3:00 P.M.

Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED: That the reports of Supervisor Martocchia, Building~
Inspector Terry, and Town Clerk Richmond for the month of January
1872 be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

WPiEREAS Stuart Staples has applied to the Town Board for a single
trailer permit dated
NOW', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Stuart
Staples to locate a single trailer on the west side Cox Neck Roa~,
Cutchogue, New York, be and the same is hereby denied._

Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan,
WHEREAS~ the Southold Fire Department requests permission to use
the following roads or streets for a parade on July 1st, 1972, at
6:00 P.M., or rain date, July 2, 1972 at 4:00 P.M.: Main Street,
Qaklawn Avenue, Morton Lane, ~raveler Street, and part of Boisseau
Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Fire Department
be ~ranted ~is~equest for Town roads only. A request must be
made to the State of NeW York for the use of Main State .Road.

Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter,
WHEREAS this Board heretofore advertised f~r bids for six (6) new
1972 special police cars, five (5) marked and one (1) unmarked,
and
WHEREAS, after study of the bids it was recommended that all bids
be rejected,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That bids for six new special
police cars be r~ected and the Police Chief be authorized to
readvertise for police cars.

Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded 'bY Justice Suter,
WHEREAS the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Cutchogue Fire
District ha~s requested from the Southold Town Board an easement for
the purpose of placing an electrical fire siren on a pole on the
southerly side of George~ Road, New Suffolk. The pole upon which
the siren will be located is 100 ft. in a westerly direction from
the easter~ly terminus of George's Road with the westerly side of
5th Street, New Suffolk.
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: Th~ this Board grant the Commissioners
of the Cutchogue Fire Department their request for a siren.

Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was
RESOLVED: That Terry Harnan, Southold, New York, be and she hereby
· s appointed to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council
for a period of two years effective February 1, 1972, term ending
February 1, 1974.

RESOLVED: That Thomas Reeve, Mattituck, New York, be and he hereby
is appointed to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council
for a period of two years, effective February 1, 1972, term ending
February 1, 1974.

W~EREAS John J.~ Klein has applied to the Town-Board for a single
trailer renewal permit dated January ~3,~ 1972,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of John J.
Klein tc locate a single trailer.on his property on. Main Road~
Mattituc~, New York be and hereby is granted for a period ~f six
(6) months. Ayes: -

Peconic, be and hereby is granted for a six (6) month period.

WHEREAS Zdzislaw Mekalojczyk has applied to the Town Board for a
s~ngle trai~er renewal permit dated January 26, 1972,
NOW,-THEREFORE; BE~ tT RESOLVED.: That the-application of Zdzislaw
Mekaloj~zyk to locate a single trailer on his property at Johns'Road,
east s~de Main Read, Mattituek, ~ew York, be and hereby is granted
for a six (6) month period.

Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Homart,
WHEREAS, a petition was received from Halsey Staples, Greenport,
New York, requesting a change of zone on certain property in
Greenport, said petition for a change ~om "A" Residential and
Agricultural Distr~ct to "B-i" General Business District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town
of Southold be and he hereby is ~irected to transmit this applica-
tion to the Planning Board in accordance with Article XVI, Section
1600 of the Building Zone-Ordinance of the Town of Southo'ld.

WHEREAS, a petition was received from Martin Filla, Mattituck, New
York, requesting a- change of zone 6~ certain property in East
Cutchogue, said petition for a change from~"A'' Re~identia~ and
Agricultural District to "B-~ General Business District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town
of-Southold be and he hereby-~s directed to"~transmit this appli~
cation to the Planning Board in accordance with Article XVI, Section
1600 of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold.

dential and Agricultural District to "C" Industrial District,
~OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of
Southo~d be and he hereby is-directed to transmit-this appticatkon
to the Planning Board'in accordance with Article XVI, Sectional600
of the Building Zone Ordinance of the~Town of Southold.

WHEREAS, a petition was received from Philip W. Abatelli, Main Road,
Cutchogue, New York, requesting a change of -zone on-certain property
at East Cutchoguel said petition for a change from "A" Residential
and Agricultural Dis%rict to"B-l" General Business District~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That ~the-Town Clerk of the Town
of Southotd be and he hereby is directed to transmit this appli-
cation to the Planning Board in accordance with Article XVI,
Section 1600 of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold.

Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
On motion of~ Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Homan, 'it was
RESOLVED: That a recess be taken (3:45 P.M.), meeting to reconvene
at 4:30 P.M.

Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED: That General bills in the amount of $12,741.32; Special
Districts bills'in the amount, of $22,907.32; Fishers Island Ferry
District bills in the amount of $1t,346.15; and Highway.Department
bitls in the amount of $13,372.03 ~e and the same are hereby ordered
paid~ Capital Account in the amount of $6,685.67.
