HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-10/27/1964MEETING OF OCTOBER 27, 1964. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, October 27, 1964. The meet- ing was called to order at 3:00 P.M. With the following~present: ~ Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tut~? hill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. Move~ by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the minutes of October 13, 1964 be and they hereby are duly approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill~and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark; RESOLVED: That the next ~egular monthly meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson, 16 South~St., Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1964, at 3:00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Dema~est and Valentine-; Justices Tuthill and Clark. At 3:00 PoM. in accordance wit~ a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold reefers . Only two bids were submitted which follow: Levin's Men's Shop $71.50 each Abe Brown 69.45 each Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; Wt{EREAS, the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid on the Police Reefers was submitted by Abe Brown of Greenport, N.Y. RESOLVED: That Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is directed to en- ter into a contract with Abe Brown'for the purchase of 12 Reefers in accordance with bids submitted. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albettson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. ~ Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, Fishers Island Ferry District proposed leasing~a portion Qf the Airport Property to the Fishers Island Rod and Gun Club for Skeet and Tra p Ra~=,~ permission is hereby requested that the Town Board authorize~% this District to conduct a public hearing on the matter as prescribed by the terms of a quit claim deed conveying the airport~property and by the enabling act of this District, NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves the action of the Commissioners of the F~shers Island Ferry District. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; secDnd~d by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS~ the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District ~ish to enter into a bareboat charter for the use of the M/V Yankee~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District with the Interstate Navigation Company on the contract. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Supervisor Lester M. Albertson appointed Herbert Boughton of Mattituck, N.Y. for the positioh on the Fire Advisory of Suffolk County represent- ing the Town of Southold for the year 1965, which he presently holds. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS~ Islands End Golf and Country Club,'Inc. by petition verified the 25th day of May, 1964 petitioned the Town Board for a change of zone of certain property described in said petition from "A" Resident- ial and Agricultural 'District to "B" Business, and WHEREAS, the said petition was referred to the Planning Board for its official report with the Town Board, and WHEREAS, the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof, held a Hearing on said petition on the 28th day of July, 1964, at which time all,inter- ested persons were given an opportunity to.b~ heard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Th~tothe relief demanded in said petition of the Island~ End'Golf and Country Club, Inc. be and the same is in all respecte denied. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. WHEREAS, the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof, held a hearing on said petiiion on August 27, 1964, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the relief demanded in said petit- mon of Vine Baker and George VanBuren be and the same is in all respects denied. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS., Paul S. and Lois Wilson by petition verified the 24th,day~ of August, 1964, petitioned the Town Board for a change of zone of certain real property described mn said petition from "A" Residential_auld-Agric- ultural District to "B" Busmness%District, and WHEREAS, the said petition was referred t6 the Planning Board for its official recommendation and report, and WHEREAS~ the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof held a hearing thereon on the 20th day of October, 1964, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town B~ild~in~ Zon~ Ordinance including the Building Zone Map be amended from "A? Resident- ial and Agrim~lturat District to "B" Business District on the follow- ing described property: ALL that certain tract or parcel of land situated at Greenport, in. the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and more particularly b~und- ed and described as~ follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the southerly line of Manhanse% Avenue with the westerly line of Beach Road; from said point of beginning run- ning along said westerly line of Beach Road, Zwo courses, as follows: (1) S 4© 06' 00" E. 481.84 feet; thence (2) southeasterly on a curve to the left having a radius of ~436.0 feet a distance of 100.98.i feet t~o the land of the Town of Southold; ~thence along said land of the Town of Southold S. 33© 10' 00" W. 202.53 feet to ordinary high water mark of Sterling. Containing 9 acres, more or less. Moved'by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark;. ~ ~ WHEREAS, it is required by Section 148 of the Education.Law. that a local, ~istorian shall be appointed by the Supervisor of-the Town, and WHEREAS, the Supervisor has appoint~ed Mrs. Mary~~.~,~.?a~t as TOwnHistOrian, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Mrs. Mary Chapman be compensated while acting in such cDpacity in the amount of six hundred dollars per year payable in regular monthly pa~yments as of November 1, 1964, and BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certif- icate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdiv- ision 3 of the Town Law. Albertson be and he hereby_is authorized to enter into a contract with Florence Kramer for the rental of a room [or the~Town Historman up to January 1, i965 at $75.0~ per month. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED:,That the Town Board. accept $12~000 cash in escrow from Estate. of Fleet, Cutchogue, N.Y. as the security for the Completion of road~ in East Woods Estates, a subdivision~in Fleets Neck, Cutchogue, New Yor~. ~Vote of Town Board~: Aye~Superviso~Albertso~Counciimen Demarest and Valentine;-Justices Tuthill and Clark. The following recommendations were made to the Town Board bY the Planning Board:-' (1) RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Plannin~ Board recommend to the ~own Board that Lawrence Tuthill, professional engineer, be paid for his s~ryices on the following basis:fMaking estimate~ for bonds for roads, he shall receive $25.00 for the first 10 acres in a subdivision, and $1.00 for each additional acre over 10 acres. (2) RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board recommends~t0 the~'Planning Board that the Planning. Board amend its Rules~.~nd R~gulations relative to the filing_.of Plats to c~ange the filing fee as follows: Fifty Dotl~rs..for the first 10 acres in the subdivision, and five dollars for each additional acre over 10 acres.
