The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M.
Albertson at Greenport, N.Y. on Thursday, January 2, 1964. The meeting
was called to order at 3:00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Alber, tson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and
Clark; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk
Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of December 24, 196.~ be and
they hereby are duly approved.

RESOLVED~ That the regular monthly meeting of the Town Board will be
held at the Supervisor's Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y. on
January/4, 1964 at 3:00 P.M.

Section 113 of the Town Law, now, therefore, be it

authorized to act as Public Welfare Officer at the pleasure of the
Town Board, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Lester M. Albertson serve in such ,capacity without

Town of Southold, be and they hereby are fixed at $950.00 per year,
with the exception of the Chairman of the Board of Appeals, whose salary
shall be and hereby is fixed at $1050.00 per year, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the members of the Board of Appeals and the Chairman
of the Board of Appeals be p;~id these salaries for their respective
offices and that these salaries be paid in regular monthly payments,

WHEREAS, Section 22B, of the Town Law allows the Town Board of any Town
having more-.than one assessor to establish the office of Chairman of
Town '~ssessors, who in addition to. his regular duties shall perform
such services in connection with assessment a~nd taxation of property
for state, county and Town purposes as the To~n Board shall direct,
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That Albert Martocchia he and hereby is designated to hold
the office of Chairman of the TOwn Board of Assessors until the first
day of January next succeeding such designation, all in accordance with
section 22B of the Town Law, and be it further
RESOLVED: .That compensation for such appointment be fixed at$2600.00

of Southold, be and they hereby are fixed at $800.00 per year, with
the exception 'of the Chairman of the Planning Board, whose salary
shall be and hereby is fixed at $900.00 per year, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the members of the Planning Board and the Chairman of
the Planning Board be paid these salaries for their respective offices
and that these salaries be paid in regular monthly payments, and be
it further

WHEREAS, Section 64 of the Town Law requi~res the TOWn BOard .to ~esig-
nate/by resolution banks in this State in which the Supervisor oryany
other officer of the Town shall deposit all monies coming-:into their
hands by virtue of their offices and
WHEREAS, the TOWn Board may require any Bank so designated to deposit
with such Board the Bonds or certificates of the United s~a~es., of the
State of New York, or any County, Town, City, Village or School District
of the S~&te of New York as security for such funds so deposited but
such bonds or certificates shall be subject to the approval of the
Town Board and shall be deposited in such ~place and held under such
condition as the Town Board may determine, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED: That the L.I.Traveler~Mattituck Watchman, Southold, N.Y.
be and hereby is designated as the official newspaper of the Town of~
Southold, effective as of February 1, 1964, to publish the notices
of the Receiver of Taxes that he is in receipt of such tax and assess-
ment roll and warrants, and that the taxes and assessments therein
may be paid to the Receiver of Taxes at the times and with Penalty
other than his principal office when and where he will attend
the receipt of taxes and assesSments in accordance with Section 2~2
of the Suffolk County TaX Act and all other legal notices as m~y
be necessary and required in ~accordance with Section 64, SubdiviSion
11 of the TOWn Law.

RESOLVED: That the Supervisor designates Tuesday, as the day ~of ~he

days notice in advance of such meeting, such notice to contain the
time when and the place where such meetingis to be held.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albe~tsOn be designated to represent
the Town. of Southold at the Annual meeting of the Association of Towns
of the State ~ New York ~o be held in New York City, N.Y. on Feb. 10,
11 and 12, 1964 and to cast the vote of the aforesaid Town pursuant to
Section 6 of Article III of the Constitution and by laws of said Assoc-
iation, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Ralph W. Tuthitl be designated as Alternate to cast the
vote of said Town at the Annual meeting of the Association of Towns
of the State of. New York in the absence of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson.

out the duties of his office at a rate not to exceed ten cents (I0¢)
per mile.

RESOLVED: That Southold Town Officials who desire to attend the Annual
meeting of the Association of Towns of the State of New York to be
held in New York City, N~Y. on Feb. 10, 11, 12, 1964 be and they hereby
are authorized to attend and be it further
RESOLVED: That the necessary registration fees not in excess of $10.00
and all actual and necessary expenses of travel, meals and lodging in-
curred in connection with attendance of such meeting, shall be a legal
charge against the Town.

RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways of the Town o~ Southold be auth-
orized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest respon-
sible bidder, the following: One (1) Heavy Duty Motor Grader, one
1953 Motor grader to be taken in trade.

RESOLVED: That the Town Board approves the action of the Supt. of
Highways in increasing the pay of the employees of the Highway De-
partment~according to the schedule presented, 10¢ per hour for each
one except K. O. Dickerson, K. Lee Dickerson and Russell GoOdwin
who shall receive 15¢ per hour and Victor Przepeora who shall receive
20¢ per ~our, all as~of January 1, 1964.
