Isla~_.d. people would like to discuss.
Mr. ~obson. spoke in behalf of the Fishers Island Civic Association
on the new bridge connecti~ Long Island and Connecticut. He said
t~e~m&]ority of the Fishers Island Civic Association was against
the b~idge as it would ~estroy the atmosphere of the Island if
Fishers Island was connected and suggested that the engineers bypass
Fishers ,Island in the project.
Mr. Ferguson~spoke on behalf of the Long Island So~nd Protective
Committee stating that they were against any bridge for the end of
Long ISland.
Mr. Simmons spoke against the bridge and suggested the engineers
consider an improved ferry service sinstead of the bridge.
A resident, suggested one more man be added to the Highway Department
to keep the streets a iittle cleaner. Another resident complimented
Mr. Price, Supt..of Highways, on the roads on Fishers Is~ nd.
Meeting recessed at 2:30 P.M.
At the, close of the meeting all were invited to the Legion Hall
for a light lunch a~ coffee which was served by the ladies of
Fishers Island. A rising vote of thanks was given to the ladies
for theirs;kind hospitality.
Meeting_was reconvened at 5:-30 P.M. aboard the boat "TEX". No further
business was brought before the meeting. Adjournment was at 5:30 P.M.

WAIVER
WE, the under signed ~ being members of the Town Board of the Town of
Southo!d, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice
of the time, place and purpose of the meeting of the Town Board to be
'held at Southold, New YOrk, on Wednesday, September 4, 1963, and do
hereby consent that the same be held on said date for the transaction
of any business which may properly come before said meeting.

A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the Town
Clerk Office, Southold, New York, on Wednesday, September 4, 1 963,
the members of the Board having waived notice of the time, pla=e and
purpose of the meeting. The meeting was called to order by the super-
visor, Lester M. Alber%son, at 1:00 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor A!bertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justi~¢es
Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark;
WHEREAS T~ County of Suffolk proposes toI dredge certain ~e~as
STERLING BASIN in the Town of Southold which dredging will be ~r
formed~ by County owned dredging equipment at a n6minal cost to .the-
Town of Southold, and
WHERMAS, in order to accomplish-said dredging, plans, specifiCa~i6hS,
agreements and other documents must be executed on behalf
Town of $outhold,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and! he hereby
is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town of Southold, all nec-
essary plans and specifications, spoil area, agreements, assurances~
to the County of Suffolk, license and/or dredging permi%~appli~ations
to Federal and State Agencies an d all other docume~uts that~ maybe
required to accomplish sa~dredging work.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen ~ Demarest.
and Grathwohl; ~Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Grathwoht; seconded by councilman Demarestr
WHEREAS, the County of- Suffolk owns and operates a dredge and or,her
equipment suitable for dredging-channels and.depositing fill on-:des'
ignated areas, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Southold has requested that the said 'dredge Be
used in connection with the dredging of STERLING BASIN, Town of
Southold, as shown on the accompanying maps and specifications, and
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of the Town of Southold by resolubion duly
adopted by the Town Board of the said Town of Southold has been~,~
authorized and directed to sign for and on behalf of the Towh~ of~
Southold assurances to the County of S~o~k that the said Town of
Southold will perform all acts required to-be performed by said Town~
in c~nnection with the preparation for the dredging operation as
aforesaid and obtaining of all necessary easements and rights of
way for said dredging operation and use of areas indicated on the 'attach-
ed map for spoil areas together with all necessary rights incidental
to said dredging operation,
NOW, THEREFORE, ih~c~nsideration of the benefits to the Town of
$outhold, as aforesaid, the Town of Southold hereby assures the COunty
of Suffolk that it will
(a) Furnish, free of cost to the County of SuffoIk, all lands, ease-.~
men ts, rights of way and spoil disposal ar~a~ necessary for ~he new
work and subse ~quent maintenance when and if required for "the dredging
operation at STERLING BASIN all as shown On t~e attached map, and
(b) Hold and sa~e the County of Suffolk free from any claims or
damages resulting from said ~mprovement or ~esult~ng in any way from
the said dredging operation or the use of equipment at the ~aid STERLING
BASIN or use of any Spoil area or any other affected by said dredging
operation.
