FISHERS ISLAND MEETING OF AUGUST 20, 1963..
The annual Fishers Island meeting of Southold Town Board ~as
on Tuesday, August 20, 1963. The meet'lng was held in the FiS~er~
Island Theatre and was called to order by Supervisor Lester M~
Albertson at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: SuperviSor
Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards; Town ~ttorney Tasker; 'Town Clerk
Richmond; Officials of the State, County and Town and guests and a
delegation of Fishers Island residents.
Supervisor Albertson introduced the State, County and Town~ Officials
and the Fire District Chiefs.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of ~ugust 6th and the Special Meeting of
August 13, 1963, be and they hereby are duly approved.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Moved by Councilmen Grathwohl; seconded by JustiCe Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the regular meeting of the Town Board will be held
at the office of the Supervisor, Lester M. Albertson, on Tuesdayi
September 10, 1963, at 3:00 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson;~Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS, the Beard of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Fmrry
District at a meeting held on the 2nd day of August, 1963]~ adopted-
a resolution increasing the~ salary of Wilfred Ci Sinclair, Manager
of the Fishers Island Ferry District, from $6060.00 per annum'to
$6560.00 per annum, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the special act of the Legislature creating
said District, such action of the Board of Ferry District Commiss-
ioners i~ subject to the approval of the Town Board o f the Town
of Southold, and
WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution has been submitted to the Board
for the purpose of approving the action of the Ferry District Comm-
issioners,
RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby approves
the action of the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry
District in increasing the annual salary of Wilfred C. Sinclair from
$6060.00 per annum to $6560.00 per annum beginning August 20, 1963.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
WHEREAS, Franks Marine Service was the lowest bidder, having bid
$2750.00 for a Diesel Generator for Fishers Island Ferry District,
Fishers Island, N.Y.
RESOLVED: That the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District
be authorized to accept such bid with said Franks Marine Service and
to prepare and submit to the Town Board a contract for its approval.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill, clark and Grathwohl;
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to purchase Fire Burning Permits for the
various Fire Departments in the Town of Southold, N.Y.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Supervisor Albertson inquired if there were any problems the Fishers
Island.~people Would like to discuss.
Mr. Hobson spoke in behalf of the Fishers Island Civic Association
on the new bridge connecti~ Long Island and Connecticut. He said
t~e~majority of the Fishers Island Civic Association was against
the b~idge as: it would ~estroy the atmosphere of the Island if
Fishers Island was connected and suggested that the engineers bypass
Fishers ,Island in the project.
Mr. Ferguson spoke on behalf of the Long Island Sound Protective
Committee. stating t~at they were against any bridge for the end of
Long ISland.
Mr. Simmons spoke against the bridge and suggested the engineers
consider an improved ferry service ~instead of the bridge.
A resident, suggested one more man be added to the Highway Department
to keep the streets a little cleaner. Another resident complimented
Mr. Price, Supt..of Highways, on the roads on Fishers Is~ nd.
Meeting recessed at 2:30 P.M.
At the, close of the meeting all were invited to the Legion Hall
for a light lunch a~ coffee which was served by the ladies of
Fishers Island. A rising vote of thanks was given to the ladies
for thei~kind hospitality. ~
Meeting_was reconvened at 5:30 P.M. aboard the boat "TEX". No further
business was brought before the meeting. Adjournment was at 5:30 P.M.

SPECIAL' MEETING SEPTEMBER 4, 1963.
WAIVER
WE, the undersigned~ being members of the Town Board of the Town of
SoUtho~ld, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice
of the. time, place and purpose of the meeting of the Town Board to be
'held at Southold, New YOrk, on Wednesday, September 4, 1963, and do
hereby consent that the same be held on said date for the transaction
of any business which may properly come before said meeting.

A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the Town
Clerk Office, Southold, New York, on Wednesday, September 4, 1 963,
the members of the Board having waived notice of the time, pla=e and
purpose of the meeting. The meeting was called to order by the super-
visor, Lester M. Alber~son, at 1:00 P.M. with the following preseDt:
