The southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albert-
son, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, May 8, 1962. The meeting was called to
order.at 3:00 .P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson;
councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Supt. of
Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.
At 3:~0.0 R.M. in accordance with the notice published, according to law,
bids ~ere .opened for proposals to furnish and install 430 feet of fenCing
and a twenty (20) foot double opening gate installed at the TOWn Dump
at CutchoFue, Suffolk County, New York. Only two bids were submitted
which were: Anchor Post Inc., Farmingdale ....... $1395.00
Art Fence Co., Ri=~rhead,- ............. 1427.50

RESOLVED: That the bids on the fence for the Town Dump be placed in
the hands, of the Dump Committee fo~ study.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of April 24, 1962, be and they hereby are
duly approved.

RESOLVED: That the next regular monthly meeting of this Town Board will
be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at 16 South Street,
Greenport, ~.¥. on Tuesday, May 29, 1962 at 3:00 P.M.

RESOLVED: That the report of the Auxiliary Police for the month of April
be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Alhertson be and he hereby~ is author-
imed and directed to apply to the New York State Youth ~Commission for a
renewal of the Recreation_Project for the Town of $outhold.

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners ~Of the 'Fishers Island Ferry' DiStrict
at a meeting held on the 3rd day of May, 1962, adopted a resOi~tion
creasing the salary of Wilfred C. Sinclair, manager of the Fishers'~~ i~fand3
Ferry District, from $5,560 per annum to $6060.00 per annum retroactzve
as of December 1, 1961, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the special act of the Legislature creating said
District, such action 'of the Board of Fishers Island Ferry District
Commissioners is aubject to the approval 'of the Town Board of" the TOWn
of Southoid, and
WHEREAS, the proposed pay raise retroactive to Dec. 1961 would"Be~ contrary
to Article 8 of the Constitution of 'the State of New York,
· BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby dis-
approves of the action of the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers~ Island
Ferry District.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $8,242.95; Lighting District
Bills in the amount of $2,420.4~; Fishers Island Ferry Distridt Bills~
in the amount of $9,727.80 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

WHEREAS, the Dump Committee reported that the lowest bid On t~e fence"for
the dump was submitted by the ~nchor Post Inc., Farmingdale,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 'IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Alberts0n'~&
and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract with the Anchor Pos~
Inc. for the purchase of 430 feet of' fencing and 20 feet gate',' ail'"kn~
stalled at the Town Dump, sCutchogue, New York, as per bid submitted.

Supervisor Albertson appointed C06ncilmen Grathwohl~ as consul~ant on
construction at the Highway Building.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice 'Clark;
RESOLVED: That this meeting be recessed at 5:00 P.M. and be reconvened

Moved by Councilman Demarest~ seconded by Justice Tuthitl:
WHEREAS, George K. Vloutety by petition verified on'the 9th dayof'March,
1962, petitioned the Town Board for a change of zone of certain real
property described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural
District to '~M" Multiple Residence District, and
WHEREAS, the said petition was referred to the Planning Board for its
official recoa~endation and report, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Board has filed its official report with the
Board, and
WHEREASl-the TOWn BOard, pursuant to due notice thereof, held a hear-
ing~ on said petition on May 8, 1962, at which time all interested persons
were ~given an~opportunity to be heard, minutes of which were recorded
by Judith Boken,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the ret~ief demanded in said petition
of~ George K. Vloutely be and the same is in'~ll respects denied.

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District
at~ a meeting held on the 9th day of May, 1962, adppted a resolution
.increasing the salary of Wilfred C. Sinclair, Manager of the Fishers
Island Ferry District, from $5560.00 per annum to $6060.00 per annum,
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to,the special act of the Legislature creating aaid.
District such action of the Board of Ferry District Commissioners is
subject to the approval of the TOWn Board of the TOWn of Southold, and
WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution has been submitted totthe Board for
the purpose of approving the action of the Ferry District Commissioners,
RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the TOWn of Southold hereby approves
the action of the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry
District in increasing the annual salary of Wilfred C. Sinclair from
$5560.00 to $6060.00 per annum beginning May 1,C1962.

Reconvened~at 9:30 AM May 10, 1962.
Police Chief (Constable) Theodore B. Howard appeared before the Town
Board and reported that he had submitted a letter of resignation on
May 2,' 1.962 totthe Chairman of the Suffolk County Republican Committee.
Chief Howard was regularly elected committeeman representing the seventh
election district in Greenport.
