SOUTHOLD TOWN
CONSERVATION ADVISORY COUNCIL
At the meeting of the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council held Monday,
March 18, 2002, the following recommendation was made:
Moved by Melvyn Morris, seconded by Bill McDermott, it was
RESOLVED to recommend to the Southold Town Board of Trustees DISAPPROVAL of
the Wetland Permit Application of THOMAS & NANCY GLEASON for the construction
of exterior stairs from top of bluff to beach, and lawn and limited clearing and grading
back 16' from the top of the bank.
Located: 5115 New Suffolk Rd., New Suffolk. SCTM#110-8-34
The CAC recommends Disapproval of the application because the location of the stairs
was riot staked and there was a concern with the recent cut into the bluff and whether or
not a violation should be issued.

Dear Trustees:
We are in application before your board to clear portions of the above referenced site
and construct a set of beach stairs from the top of the bank to the beach.
In order to be clear, please understand that the reason for this action within your
jurisdiction is that we intend to construct a single family residence and swimming pool
on the land which is immediately beyond your jurisdiction. I hope this clarifies our full
intentions and gives a context for your decision on our application.
Thank you,

Dear Mr. Samuels:
The Southold Town Board of Trustees reviewed site plan dated February R, 2002 and determined
the construction of a single-family dwelling, terrace, and swimming pool, to be out of the
Wetland Jurisdiction under Chapter 97 of the Town Wetland Code.
However. any activity within 100' of the Wetland line would require permits from this office.
This determination is not a determination from any other agency.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call.
