We have received three telephone calls in the past week from our neighbors on Mattituck
Inlet expressing their outrage Qf the proposed expansion of Mattituck Inlet Marina
Our home and property are directly opposite the proposed expansion. Although we are
within 200feet of the marina on the east side of the inlet, we u~re not notified of the oariance
application. Why is it that in 1~.19 Southold Town does not r~quire applicants for
variances to notify all adjacent property owners within a 200foot radius as man), towns on
Long [sland do?
We ha~ no beach nor acc~s to the inlet due to our little inlet being filled in with silt over
the years with the greatest shift occuring when the marina was originally dredged. You
have allowed the marina to expand further and further south clestroying u~tlands and it
seems they ha~ been allou~cl to usurp a public u~tterway with expanded docks attd large
boats that are permanently docked on the outside of the fingers. We lioe with our b~ch
grass and mad becau~ it is a great wildlife refuge. We purchase a ramp key and l~tSS each
year and trailer our stnall boat to the town dock when we u,ant to enjoy the water. We may
be the only property on the inlet that does not have acee.~ to the u~ter. This is a hardship
but we accept the sitt~'aion provided the conseroation rule~ apply to eoeryono equally.
If you allow the marina to e. rpand into the wetlands, then we're not all playoing b.v the
same rules. Our family has protected the wetlands in_front of our house for over 60years.
Now you must do the same.
