As Chief Executive of Southold Town, I, Joshua Y. Horton, hereby extend Focal
emergency order No. 02-2005 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3,
2005, with the following clarification:
I hereby direct the temporary suspension of applicable portions of Chapter 100 of
the Southold Town Code only as it relates to the temporary parking of vehicles
on the property identified as SCTM# 1000-15-9-3.5 and 3.6. Parking shall be
temporarily prohibited on the North and South sides of State Route 25 near the
entrance to Cross Sound Ferry.

Pursuant to Article 2-B of the New York State Executive Law, a State of
Emergency is hereby declared in Orient Point at the Cross Sound Ferry location
in the Town of Southold for a period of time beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Friday,
July 29, 2005, and continuing until rescinded.
The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions
produced by apprehension of a terrorism incident and elevation of the maritime
security level. Such conditions threaten or imperil the safety of the citizens of the
Town of Southold.
As Chief Executive of Southold Town, I, Joshua Y. Horton, have
exercised the authority given to me under New York State Executive Law, Article
2-B, to preserve the public safety and hereby render all required and available
assistance vital to the security, well-being and health of the citizens of Southold
Town.
I hereby direct the Southold Town Police Department, the Department of
Emergency Preparedness, and the Highway Department to take whatever steps
necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and other such
emergency assistance as deemed necessary, including, but not limited to, the
closure of roads, closure of beaches and parking areas, rerouting of traffic and
the evacuation of persons from homes, placespf business .and other areas

Dear Messrs. Wronowski, Esseks and Guardino:
The Town of Southold has been informed that the secudty level pertaining to the Cross
Sound Ferry terminal in Odent has been reduced. As a result, the state of emergency
will expire tomorrow at 7 o'clock a.m., and will not be renewed.
Accordingly, as of midnight tonight, temporary emergency permission to park vehicles on
the residentially-zoned parcel adjacent to the ferry terminal site is hereby revoked. In
accordance with my letter dated July 28, 2005, the adjacent parcels, SCTM #1000-15-9-
3.5 and 3.6, will be governed by the existing zoning regulations of the Town of Southold.
Parking of vehicles on these parcels is not permitted.
