Predominantly wooded surroundings, with West Harbor and Fishers
Island Sound to west and north.

Large, 1'2 story, 3 bay, gambrel roof house with flanking, single
bay, gambrel roof north and south wings. Additional north wing with
gambrel roof. Front (east) facade with central, pedimented pro-
jection framed with quoins and molded pilasters. Block modillions
under the eaves of entire house. West facade is 5 bays with cen-
ter entrance. Ground story windows 919 with molded pediments and
SIGNIFICANCE louvered shutters. Wing at erorner in rusticated board,

BUILDER:
20. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
Ibis handsome country house is a later refinement of the
"Colonial" influence. It probably was built after the other
'4Colonial style*houses here on the east end of Fishers Island.
Erard Matthiesson designed numerous houses on Fishers Island.
