and wooded land surrounds the house. Fishers Island Sound dir-
ectly north. As with other houses in the east part of the
issl{and, this house is syyurnroouSndyed by large tracts of property

Large, 2 story, gable roof) "U" shaped house with wall face dor-
mers on east facade. South facade, with exposed courtyard, in-
corporates an integral, exterior stair case and wood balcony.
North facade with exterior slender chimney and 2 story wood
porch with balcony.
SIGNIFICANCE
I1). DATE OF INITIAL C'ONSTRUC'TION: 1929
ARCHITECT: George Washington Smith, from Santa Barbara, California.
BUILDER:
0. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
This house is unusual on Fishers Island in that it is in the
early-California Monterey style.
The clay Spanish tile roof and integral exterior stair are
noteworthy features of this house.
