HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: This house is not as large as most of the houses here on the east end of Fishers Island. However, it is a good example of the Colonial influence on American country house design of the first part of the 20th century. The steeply pitched roof and wood shingle cladding recall early New England architecture. Many of the country houses on the east end of Fishers Island reflect that tra- dition. 21.
