Open land surrounds this grouping. 18. OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known): 12 story, rectangular, multi-bay, gable roof building. Flanking garage wings. 6/6 windows with round arch lintels and stone sills. Scrolled, exposed rafter ends at eaves and bottom edge of rake. SIGNIFICANCE 113. DATE OF INITIAL CONSTRUCTION: 1906 ARCHITECT: BUILDER: 20. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: This building retains its original function as a maintenance garage for the service and repair of vehicles. It is his- torically and architecturally significant as a component of the Fort Terry compound which reflects U.S. coastal defense history. EVALUATION This buildinq is not compliant with OSIIA and Life Safety Code Requirements. The change and wash-up areas are substandard. RECOMMENDATION Demolish upon completion of new facilities.
