A nearly identical building was located in Fort H.G. Wright, Fishers Island (demolished 1975) . This brig is located at the central intersection of the Fort Terry com- pound and contributes greatly to the layout of this historic group of military buildings. Architecturally, it is a largely intact example of a standard, pre-WWI Army design. Untill recently, this building housed the Mice Colony of the Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Its unique role in the field of animal research adds to its historical significance.. Plans are underway to convert it into a research library.. 21. SOURCES: Master Plan.
