OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known): 1 story, 5 bay, hip roof, "T" shaped building. Slightly recessed flanking wings. Double leaf front door with round arch and tran- som window. 6/6 and 3/3 windows with rounded lintels incorporat- ed into a brick stringcourse. Tall brick chimneys. Shed roof entrance porch with large brackets and scrolled rafter ends. SIGNIFICANCE 11,. DATE OF INITIAL CONSTRUCTION: 1909 ARCHITECT: BUILDER: i 0. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE This building is nearly identical to another surviving mil- itary building at Fort H.G. Wright on Fishers Island. (see form WE-3d) . Apparently, this was one of the standardized plans for the turn of the century Army base. This building is an important component of Fort Terry, and retains its historic context within the group of such structures that were erected near the middle of Plum Island. It is significant to American military history, and architecturally important as a standard type of Army design. 21. RECOMMENDATION Demolish upon completion of new warehouse facility and move function to basement of Building 55 on in- terim basis. Function to be in E & PM Support Area when new space is completed.
