of the road . Predominantly open land surrounds the house ,
especially to the north. Warehouse and parking lot to S .

Although this was reportedly built for Edward Latham
circa 1865 , it does not appear to be that old . Never-
less it and its barn contribute to the ambience of
this historic highway.
According to local historians the flat roof house ,
form OR $3 , was removed from this site .

Barn has metal roof.
This barn was reported in `Ta.ves , Barns
of TonjC Island in 1981.
The barn is a 3-bay English type , dated
1800-1820 . It' s a. very interesting
structure . There is a crypt in the
basement and a child' s grave in the
basement wall. Tt was part of the
Daniel T . Latham farm

Hewn oak/chestnut frame. Rafters vertically
sawn, tapered. pinned. Braces vertical sawn,
y pinned. Wood unknown. North Wall, shingles
with 7" exposure. Parts of original stalls
remaining. Intact farm; 6 pre-1900 bld s.

3-bay English, ca. 1849.
Framing, like type 10 but with gambrel roof.
301 x 401 , height to plate 141 .
Vertical sawn pine frame. Braces half-dove-
tailed, spiked with cut nails. Addition,
30' x 251 , similar construction.
Typical heavily-altered 19th century farm for
20th century. 4 pre-1900 buildings.

3-bay English, 1800-1820.
Framing type 11 .
28' x 37' , height to plate 1419".
Sawn oak/chestnut frame; plates hewn. Posts,
studs, braces vertical sawn oak. East wall.
originally nailed with forged rails. Massive
framing, very well built. Rafters tapered and
pinned. 2 pre-1900 buildings.

Framing type 3.
26' x 341 , height to plate about 1418".
Hewn oak/chestnut frame; center post vertical
sawn. Rafters sawn, tapered, pinned. Braces
vertical sawn and pinned, wood unknown. Wall
girts and studs vertical sawn pine. Addition
ca. 1900 circ. sawn pine. 2 pre-1900 bldgs.
