(NYS Rte. 25), historic Kings Hwy. , the house is situated close to Main Rd. and is surrounded by predominantly open land in a low density agricultural area. IH. HISTORICAL_ AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: This was the original Terry farm house, and originally included 100 acres that was later divided into thirds for family members.* Jonathan Terry bought this property from Joshua Curtis in 1732. House now close to Rte. 25 (the road was moved -- not the house). House is located two and a half miles for the historic district of Orient Village. 18. OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES-OF BUILDING AND SITF (including interior features if kn wn): Attic has pegged, handhewn beams, wide floor-boards, some H & L hinges, dado/gwi a chair rails. Small fieldstone cellar under dining room at east end. Some 9 over 6 window sashes have survived. Imperfections in glass suggest hand-blown. Fireplaces removed but mantels remain. South kitchen wall has original dado paneling. In center of kitchen floor is trap door opening onto hole, c. 7 foot diameter, lined with metal; original use unknown. SIGNIFICANCE 19. DATE OF INITIAL CONSTRUCTION:Last wind 'built c. 1684; mein Qeg;ti_on c. 1700. ARCHITECT: Unknown BUILDER: Unknown 20. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: Terrywold is believed to be the second oldest residence in Orient (after the Terry/Mulford House).
