20. HISTORICAL AND ARC"HITT?CTLIRAL IMPORTANCE:
The Terry farm has a "Certificate of Recognition" from the NYS
Agricultural society as a "Bicentennial Farm", a farm in oper-
ation for 200 years or more. This Terry farm existed since
1732, when the land was bought.
The Orient Post Office was located in this house from c. 1906-
c. 1911, with a Postmaster salary of $129.00 per year.
On the 1838 map, "D. Terry" is shown, with three houses indicated.
Again, there were three Terry houses along here in 1858. In 1873,
this house is indicated as M.V. Terry, and there were four other
Terry houses along the road to the east, making five in all.
