Predominantly open land surroynds the house , with marshland directly south. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: Y This house was owned by Petty in 1858, 1873 , and 1909. These early 1i-story, 5 bay, "Cape Cod Style" houses were once predominant on the North Fork. Today, only here in Orient do we find so many extent . They give a sense of place . This house retains the original parlor with the typical two doors ;side by side in the rear wall - one leading to the kitchen , the other to a small bedroom.
