This house was owned by Petty in 1858, 1873 , and 1909.
These early 1i-story, 5 bay, "Cape Cod Style" houses
were once predominant on the North Fork. Today, only
here in Orient do we find so many extent . They give a
sense of place .
This house retains the original parlor with the typical
two doors ;side by side in the rear wall - one leading to
the kitchen , the other to a small bedroom. This charac-
teristic was widespread on Longi; Island in the 18th century.
