Located in a low density residential area north of Main Rd.
(NYS Rte. 25) , on a bluff that overlooks Long Island Sound
to the north. Mix of open and wooded land surrounds the
house . The original Orient Cemetery is SE of the house .

Large 2� story, 3 bay, gable roof shingled house. Shed roof
dormers and stone end-chimneys . Flanking iz story, gable
roof wings at east and west . Additional 1 story, gable roof
wing at east with stone end-chimney. Porches across north
and south facades .

'U. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
The house was owned; by Birdseye in 1897 and 1906 , and by
Stern in 1909. This was the summer home of Clarence Birds-
eye , before he became famous as a developer of frozen foods .
The Sterns bought the house in 1909 and remodelled it . In
1929 the Sterns had 22 acres surrounding the house .

Hospital thanks to a benefit cocktail party Saturday more sent donations.
