(NYS Rte. 25) , on a bluff that overlooks Long Island Sound to the north. Mix of open and wooded land surrounds the house . The original Orient Cemetery is SE of the house . 18. OF INITIAL CONSTRUCTION: Late 1800's ARCHITECT: IITECT: BUILDLR: 'U. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: The house was owned; by Birdseye in 1897 and 1906 , and by Stern in 1909. This was the summer home of Clarence Birds- eye , before he became famous as a developer of frozen foods . The Sterns bought the house in 1909 and remodelled it .
