This is one of several intact houses of its type and age .

Early 11 story, 5 bay, central chimney, gable roof
house with small brackets under the eaves . 1 story
wing on rear. Entrance with pilasters , sidelights ,
and louvered front door,white porcelain knob. 2/2

20_ HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
.phis house was owned by a Griffing on the 1858 , 1873 ,
and 1909 maps . It is of great interest a:- a fine ex-
ample of a "Cape Cod" style house. Untill recently,
this type was the typj.cal house seen on Main Rd . in
the Town of Southold .
