The house stands on a slight rise overlooking Route 48 and , across the road , the Long Island Sound , in a low density residential area. `Where are beach cottages on the Sound shorefront. IX. 01 TIER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known): 2h-story, 5-bay, hip roof house with flanking 1-story hip roof porches . Very ;urge 6/5 windows . Double leaf front door with transom. Fedimented entrance stoop with square columns matching those on porches. The flaring roof has wide overhang and eyebrow dormers. SIGNIFICANCE ICDAIF 01: INITIAL CONSTRUCTION: Prior to 18A7 , e.ltered 1920' s- ARCHITECT: 920' e_ARCS iITECT: BUILDER: Q. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: Dr. Ruch bought this house in 1919.* On the 1897 and 1909 maps this house is indicated as Woodworth and Woodworth estate . In 1929 the property is shown as "Dr. Rusch ( sic) 18 acres ." The house is of special interest because of the very high 11 or 12 foot ceilings and its unusually large windows.
