The estate itself lies high on the bluffs, overlooking L. I.Sound. Iti_ OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known): Small 2-story, gable roof, stucco-on-concrete outbuilding with 1-story gable roof wing at rear, (on west side of property.) Large , high, gable roof barn, with large hip roof section at rear, on high concrete foundation remains on east side of property. W • 5 rr-; M 10 HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: 0f the three estates, -Cahoon, Marshall, and Cosden - that once graced the Sound bluffs in Southold, very little remains. The Cosden stables compound has survived and the buildings have been restored for residential use. These Cahoon buildings invite similar rehabilitation. The Cahoon was later owned by Mrs Booth who was a Cahoon. Mrs. Booth bought the old Southold Bank building and gave it to the blibrary as a memorial to her parents. 21. SOURCES: E. Belcher-Hyde .
