John and Lucretia Prince House shown at the left in top photo and in Plate IV , was used as a "tenement house" until Seth Tuthill's son sold it in 1919. It was probably at that time that the small front porch and dormer were added. The first large chimney had been 7x51 feet at the base, with fireplaces opening both front and back, to living room ani present dining room. At the second floor level it was 4x2J feet and had a small fireplace in the central upstairs hall which opened into five tiny bedrooms, two of which were under the front eaves. Douglas and Alma Cummings, the present owners, replaced a later chimney, and again have a fireplace in the living room. More at Plates III and IV. 12.Z. Lucie M (Prince) Scatt House. Southold. (she b. 1869, d. 1914) The Old Prince Homestead, moved in 1891 to the site of the house at the right in top photo, was struck by lightning one night in 1894 and burned, the Scott family barely escaping. The Scotts moved to Sag Harbor, but after her husband's death in 1902, Lucie came back to Southold with her four children and built this house on the ashes of the old, as it were. From Lucie the house went to her son John, whose widow Marjory R. Scott now lives there, the last Prince link living on Joseph's ' Homestead property. #134. "Bert" and Ellen T.
