He stayed at the Southold Hotel during the week and return- ed weekends to the farm. his health was poor, and a painful knee ailment kept recurring. Someone usually brought him back Sunday evening, but Jane' s Diary mentions "setting Horace across the creek" (Mill Creek) so guess he walked from there when weather and knee permitted, eliminating the long walk around to Mill Creek bridge. Jennie taught piano to many students in Greenport and Southold. She and her boys played both chamber music and ballroom music for dances, Frank on the violin, Charles the bass violin. Besides music, Jennie loved to act in plays put on by the newly formed Lyceum Association. #195. Francis Nash Tillinghast ( 1862-1937 ) m. 1893 Tessa Southam. #196. Edmund's son, Edward B., built the house at the right when he married Viola in 1907. Father and son traded houses after Amy, Edmund's daughter, had left home and was teaching in Cedar Grove, N.J. The lower photos are closeups of the same two houses. Alex Bobinski bought the farm in 1921 and took down the large house. Nat Talmage, Jr. owned the property in 196' and took down the other house and built a ranch type house on the site. Only the tank house was still there in 1970.
